Unveiled at [[Toy Fair 2011]], ''[[Transformers brand|Transformers]]'' was the first Hasbro brand to be released as Kre-O construction brick kits. The kits (generally) center around a Transformers character that can be taken apart and reassembled into a vehicle. Mini-figures called [[Kreon]]s are also included in the larger kits, and these mini-figures are a mix of Transformers characters and human drivers (mostly nameless generics). Prices range from $7.99 to $59.99, plus individually-bagged Kreon figures at $2.99.

The line launched in the US on [[June 6]]th, [[2011]]. Since then, ''Kre-O'' has expanded into a [[multi-property brand]], with sets based on other Hasbro franchises including ''[[G.I. The second-year ''Kre-O Transformers'' sets mark a definite change in style. Dubbed "Quest for Energon", each set contains several "energon" pieces; at least one [[Skeletron|clear-plastic Kreon torso]] (blue for Autobots, purple for Decepticons), and several clear-purple "[[Dark Energon]]" parts to assemble a giant "[[ultimate Dark Energon weapon]]". The robot/vehicle builds in this year's sets are generally smaller, simpler, and less reliant on the "massive stack of flat plates" construction style common in the first year, relying a lot more on large ball-and-socket-jointed bricks to build limbs and bodies around.

There was a heavier focus on the Kreons overall, with mini-playsets, mini-vehicles and a pair of [[army-building|army builder]] sets. The robot Kreons are more often based on their [[Aligned continuity family]] incarnations than Generation 1. Human Kreons had new arm-pieces with rounded-off shoulders, rather than the blocky shoulders of all first-year Kreons.

This series also suffered a distribution issue in the US. [[Walmart]] stopped carrying ''Kre-O'' after its first year (with one tiny exception), and only [[Toys"R"Us|ToysЯUs]] appeared to carry the entire second-year assortment; the "Rotor Rage" and "Destruction Site Devastator" sets in particular didn't seem to show up at certain retailers.

Introduced in 2012, the [[Micro-Changer]]s sub-line adds a new element to Kreon figures; extra parts allow each figure to "transform" into a vehicle or beast (or whatever).

Thankfully, the Micro-Changer series did not suffer the limited-distribution fate of the ''Beast Hunters'' sets; after a rocky start, by 2013 the series was stocked regularly not just by ToysЯUs, but [[Target]] as well, plus many large drug store chains began carrying the individually-bagged figures.

First released at the back-end of 2013, these individually-carded Kreons include a huge number of extra body parts and accessories, many [[vacuum metallizing|chromed]] (thus resulting in some ''extremely'' tight fits) or translucent (which, when combined with the chromed parts, may end up with stress fractures). They also come with a customizable "rack" to store said extra parts. "Repeat" characters have all new [[tampograph]]s that are more heavily like the original toys the characters are based on.

This series was intentionally produced in smaller numbers than the other series. So far it appears that once again [[Toys"R"Us|ToysЯUs]] was the only US retailer to order them, though they were made available off of [[Hasbro Toy Shop]] as well.

Awed, Cliffjumper then turned to his interrogator and said all the decoded message said was, "Megatron smells like [[Unicron]]'s armpit." Cliffjumper tried to greet his old colleague, but she told him to be quiet, coldly informing him she had not come to rescue him, but to tap into the Decepticons' communications. Finding the coordinates of the enemy's weapons lab in [[Kaon]], she was prepared to go by herself until Cliffjumper convinced her that Kaon was too dangerous for her stealthy ways, and that she needed his brawn to back her brain. Entering the city through its maintenance tunnels, Arcee opened a secret passage. As he travelled up an ancient staircase, Cliffjumper's suspicions were confirmed when he saw Starscream overseeing the reactivation of a [[space bridge]]. Arcee wanted to destroy the device, but Cliffjumper saw it as their ticket to Earth. He distracted Starscream by going straight to him and his Vehicons, claiming he wanted to join them. Arcee activated the device, and when Starscream noticed, Cliffjumper jumped his pretense and started a fight, then jumped with Arcee into the space bridge.

As he plummeted, Cliffjumper momentarily wondered if he was one with the [[AllSpark]], but Arcee confirmed they had fallen onto Earth. Finding a ghost town, they [[scanning|scanned]] their alternate modes. Cliffjumper disdained a passing travel trailer (which he found too ugly) and a truck (which was too bulky) before selecting a muscle car, which Arcee found suitably noisy. He added horns on the hood of his new alternate mode as a finishing touch. As the two drove to find Optimus, Starscream—who had also jumped into the space bridge—attacked them, blasting off Arcee's arm. Following the [[Great Exodus]], Cliffjumper was investigating reports of a Decepticon operation on the deserted Cybertron when he was captured by [[Starscream (WFC)|Starscream]]'s forces along with Arcee. When interrogated, he held out and faked a shutdown, being thrown into the same cell as Arcee. The pair were taken to [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]], who used a [[cortical psychic patch]] on Arcee to decode the transmission—a message from [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] calling the Autobots to Earth. Cliffjumper subsequently kept Starscream busy long enough for Arcee to free herself and the pair went to destroy the [[space bridge]] that Shockwave had build. Cliffjumper distracted the Decepticons while Arcee sabotaged the bridge though Shockwave caught them in the act. Cliffjumper ended up fighting the Decepticon scientist and came off second best, though he was saved by Arcee. The two Autobots jumped through the space bridge, encountering Shockwave one last time mid-bridge before they ended up on Earth. As the pair went off to find Optimus, Cliffjumper regaled Arcee with the story of the time he was lost in the [[Rust Sea|Sea of Rust]]. {{storylink|Out of the Past}}

Three years after the last reported Decepticon activity on Earth, Cliffjumper was still marooned on the planet with his fellow Autobots. Still a strong-willed individual, Cliffjumper had sometimes run afoul of human authorities, resulting in receiving multiple traffic tickets and once having a [[Denver boot|boot]] affixed to his tire due to a parking violation. As he chatted with Arcee over the radio, she admonished him for his stubborn bullheadedness. He countered that Earth was so boring that sometimes he just had to stir things up.

Just as Cliffjumper noted that he was starting to miss the Decepticons, his scanners caught nearby activity. He declined Arcee's suggestion for backup and sped off in the direction of the disturbance. He was surprised to find a wide crater full of [[energon]], and even more surprised to find it guarded by the Decepticons! Overwhelming [[Vehicon (Prime)|Decepticon forces]] demanded Cliffjumper put up a ferocious fight, but ultimately, the Autobot was overcome and taken on board the [[Trypticon (WFC)|''Nemesis'']], the Decepticons' warship, and thrown in front of Starscream. The interim Decepticon commander did not respond well to Cliffjumper's irreverence, and the Autobot was stabbed through the chest. Starscream then ordered his troops to clean up the body.

The remaining Earthbound Autobots arrived on the scene too late, and [[Ratchet (WFC)|Ratchet]] confirmed that Cliffjumper's [[spark]] had gone offline. Finding one of Cliffjumper's horns in the dirt, Arcee took the piece of her friend to the Autobots' memorial service. The loss of Cliffjumper hit her the hardest, and she stormed off amidst their eulogies, preferring to honor Cliffjumper's memory by keeping Earth safe. Though Cliffjumper had died, his body still had uses. When Megatron wanted a corpse on which to test [[Dark Energon]]'s resurrection powers, Cliffjumper's was used as a guinea pig. Once his torso was stabbed through by a shard of the material, Cliffjumper did spring back to life...though as a psychotic, screaming [[zombie]] that attacked anything in its path! Only being sliced in two by Megatron stopped Cliffjumper's rampage, and his two halves decorated varying levels of the Decepticons' energon mine.

The initial Dark Energon stabbing did briefly bring Cliffjumper's spark back online, but when Ratchet's sensors picked this up, he dismissed it as a glitch. Regardless, Arcee wanted to investigate. After the Autobots mounted an attack on the Decepticons, Arcee found the top half of Cliffjumper strewn about, but was horrified to see the monster that he had become. Whatever this thing was, it was no longer Cliffjumper, so the zombie was left behind as the Decepticon base exploded. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 2}}

When Arcee encountered Arachnid once again, she taunted Arcee by bringing up the deaths of Tailgate and Cliffjumper. {{storylink|Predatory}} Later, at Cliffjumper's memorial, Arcee said she had not given up on finding the Decepticon responsible for his death. When she discovered their prisoner Starscream was responsible, she attempted to kill him, only to stop when a shocked Bumblebee convinced her to stop and let him escape. * During 2010, clicking "War for Cybertron Toys" on Hasbro's ''War For Cybertron'' web page actually brought up the whole ''Generations'' toy line. Looking for ''[[Transformers: War for Cybertron (franchise)| War for Cybertron]]'' toys? Here you go.
* Since the toys in the Generations toyline were initially all Deluxe-sized, the Difficulty Level bar on the front packaging (which indicates how hard it is to convert a toy from mode to mode) now denotes each individual toy's challenge level (Cybertronian Bumblebee, for example, is a Level 4, while Thrust is a Level 2).
* The plastic-coated wire twist-ties, which were normally used to secure a toy in its packaging in past toylines, have been replaced with rattan tie-downs. The paper-based tie-downs are also used in the [[Transformers (2010 toyline)|2010 ''Transformers'']] toy line and subsequent toy lines moving forward.
* The 2010 ''Transformers'' toy line, particularly the ''[[Reveal the Shield]]'' [[subline imprint]], contains several toys with a design aesthetic similar to the Generations line. This led to confusion when fan expectations were contradicted by official Hasbro announcements. Subsequently, Hasbro released [[Wheeljack (G1)/toys#Generations|Wheeljack]], a [[retool]] of ''Reveal the Shield'' [[Tracks (G1)|Turbo Tracks]], and [[Junkyard (G1)#Generations|Junkheap]], a retool of ''Reveal the Shield'' [[Wreck-Gar (G1)#Transformers (2010)|Wreck-Gar]], under the ''Generations'' banner, later followed by ''[[Transformers: Generation 2 (toyline)|Generation 2]]''-inspired redecos of ''Reveal the Shield'' [[Optimus Prime (G1)/toys#Transformers (2010)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Jazz (G1)/toys#Transformers (2010)|Special Ops Jazz]] released as part of the "Ultimate Gift Set" and the Asian market/[[Toys"R"Us]] exclusive [[Wheelie (G1)#Generations|Wheelie]] redeco/retool of Special Ops Jazz, all of them also in ''Generations'' packaging, thus further strengthening the ties between the two lines.

However, the [[Combaticon (WFC)|Combaticon]] and [[Wrecker]] combiner teams were also ''additionally'' numbered as members of their respective teams, and the sequences for those two separate sets of numbers are completely inconsistent with each other: For the Combaticons, team members 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 correspond with Deluxe Class Series 1 figures #004, #008, #006, #005 and #007, respectively; and for the Wreckers, team members 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 correspond with Deluxe Class Series 1 figures #014, #016, #018, #017 and #015, respectively. The only consistent system is that each sculpt is given the same number as a team member between both sets.
