'''Sparkeaters''' are powerful and monstrous predators, so rarely seen that they are largely believed by [[Transformer|Cybertronians]] to be mythical. As such, mere mention of them can invoke a sense of supernatural terror even among battle-hardened warriors. Little is firmly known of their habits or origin, but it is apparent that multiple denizens of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] possess the capacity to become one of these unfortunate, cannibalistic creatures, from ordinary Transformers to lowly [[turbofox]]es. Tracking the intensity of their prey's [[spark]] energy, they are able to immobilize and kill Transformers without making physical contact, through powers that seem to defy conventional explanation. Once consumed, the sparks linger in their abdomens and are slowly digested.

The horrifying and blood-soaked myth of the Sparkeaters would make [[Brainstorm (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Brainstorm]] go "hey, I got an idea for a [[Sparkeater Gun|cool new gun]]!!" [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] took the [[Sparkeater Gun]] on a time-travel trip with him, unaware of what the thing was called. When the time travelers were accosted by a security guard and his turbofoxes in the newly-constructed ''Lost Light'', they shot him with the gun and locked him up as he started to mutate. The ship was then accidentally shot across time and space {{storylink|Elegant Chaos Part 3: Predestination: An Expert's Guide|Predestination: An Expert's Guide}} where some [[Mortilus]] worshipping [[NAIL]]s {{storylink|Twenty Plus One}} found it. For some reason, they kept the new Sparkeater alive and fed with more turbofoxes (assuming they ever realised he was there).

Also of note is that, because Whirl was feeling more homicidal than usual during the time travel, he shot a senate goon with said gun, presumably also mutating him into a Sparkeater. Meaning that there's another one out there and we don't know where it is. Not a comforting thought.

A self-deluded Decepticon named [[Blip]] professed to be a Sparkeater. {{storylink|Liars, A to D Part 3: The Chaos of Warm Things|The Chaos of Warm Things}} The [[Decepticon Justice Division]] professed to have ''tamed'' a Sparkeater as their [[Dominus Ambus|pet]] {{storylink|Rules of Disengagement (issue)|Rules of Disengagement}} {{storylink|Scavengers (Part 2): Who's Afraid of the DJD?|Who's Afraid of the DJD?}} but they were lying to scare people. {{storylink|The Dying of the Light Part 4: At Close of Day|At Close of Day}}

The ''[[Lost Light]]'' would be sold to the very people who'd later time travel to it! The ''Light'' suffered an engine malfunction and premature quantum jump, which heavily damaged the ship and allowed the Sparkeater to breach its cell. While the [[Duobot]] [[Shock (G1)|Shock]] attempted to retrieve a tracking device that [[Prowl (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Prowl]] had ordered [[Ore]] to attach to the ship's engine, he ventured too close to the Sparkeater's cell: the beast was then able to somehow immobilize Shock and force him to regurgitate his own brain capsule, killing him and causing his spark to emerge for the Sparkeater to devour. {{storylink|Liars, A to D Part 3: The Chaos of Warm Things|The Chaos of Warm Things}} [[Red Alert (G1)|Red Alert]] discovered Shock's body and telltale claw marks on the nearby walls, and deduced that a Sparkeater was present. {{storylink|Liars, A to D Part 2: Hangers On|Hangers On}}

Despite his own skepticism and instinctual disregard for the myths and rumors spread by many of his crewmates, [[Ratchet (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ratchet]] eventually had no choice but to acknowledge that the damage to Shock was consistent with a "robocarnivorous entity". When [[Drift (G1)|Drift]] asserted that the Sparkeater would seek out the "brightest" spark on the ship, [[Hot Rod (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Rodimus]] oh-so-humbly assumed that meant he himself would be the next target. But, in fact, the Sparkeater was drawn to [[Rung (G1)|Rung]]. On its way towards Rung's quarters, it encountered and killed [[Animus]]. [[Whirl (G1)|Whirl]] then attempted to kill the monster with a missile barrage—only for [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] to save it with his forcefield, as a weapon strike on the unstable, partially digested sparks inside the monster's belly would have caused a catastrophic explosion. The Sparkeater relentlessly and single-mindedly pursued Rung throughout the ship, as [[Skids (G1)|Skids]] tried to help the frail psychiatrist escape and Brainstorm cowered in terror but was ignored in favor of the tastier prey. Finally, Rodimus seized Rung and used him as live bait to lure the Sparkeater next to the engine block of the ''Lost Light''. Ordering [[Perceptor (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Perceptor]] to engage the quantum drive, he then allowed the Sparkeater to attack him—and quickly grabbed the monster and pushed it up against the ship's engine. The quantum drive's localized disruption of the laws of physics resulted in the Sparkeater being merged with the engine block, killing it. On a quantum duplicate of the ''Lost Light'', the duplicated Sparkeater was similarly lured to the engine room by Animus after Rung had already been lost. ==Synopsis==
After pushing [[Riptide (G1)|Riptide]] into the oil reservoir, [[Getaway]] counts to thirty—the length of time it takes [[scraplet]]s to strip a mech down to their [[life cord]]—and considers the deed done. [[Atomizer]] feels a pain of guilt over Riptide's death, especially the needlessly cruel way Getaway spoke to him beforehand, but Getaway has already moved on to finding ways to beef up security on the ship. As the ''[[Lost Light]]'' exits the [[Warren]] and returns to regular space (four minutes ''before'' they left, thanks to its time-and-space bending properties), Getaway instructs [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] to put in a call to someone that will be able to help out with that matter. But it turns out that Getaway and Atomizer have left the oil reservoir just a bit too soon: a moment later, Riptide bursts out of its depths, having survived by transforming to boat mode despite the fact the blast he received from Getaway's [[nudge gun]] should have made that impossible.

Getaway and Atomizer show [[Froid]] the "time window" created by [[Brainstorm (G1)|Brainstorm]]'s [[time case]], allowing them to look back on a moment from the recent past when [[Hot Rod (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Rodimus]], [[Megatron (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Megatron]], and the rest of the team they exiled, were enjoying a drink in [[Swerve's]]. Getaway falls silent when he witnesses [[Skids (G1)|Skids]] and [[Nautica (G1)|Nautica]] sharing a moment, in which Skids calls the [[Caminus|Camien]] his "best friend," only speaking up again to voice his belief that the castaways have all survived their encounter with the [[Decepticon Justice Division]] and will be coming after the ''Lost Light''. But Getaway announces he is perfectly happy about this, since that means they'll be there to see him achieve his victory, finding [[Cyberutopia]] and becoming a [[Prime (rank)|Prime]]. Froid idly muses about ''[[primus apotheosis]]'', but ''assures'' Getaway he doesn't think ''his'' desire to be a Prime means ''he'' is delusional. Getaway notes that condition was first identified by [[Rung (G1)|Rung]]; Froid notes that his old rival is the most likely candidate to have died at the DJD's hands, and makes a point of describing him as "one of life's good guys."

Later, Getaway takes Atomizer to the medibay, where [[Thunder Clash|Thunderclash]], [[Mirage (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Mirage]], and the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobots]] all lie unconscious, trapped in memory loops. Sensing Atomizer's growing doubt, Getaway places a gun in his hand and instructs him to choose one of the Protectobots to kill, nominally to prevent them from forming [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]] should they ever escape, but more than that, to deal with Atomizer's wavering conviction by dirtying his hands past the point of no return. Atomizer seems about to blast [[First Aid (G1)|First Aid]], but at the last moment, shoots [[Rook (Generations)|Rook]] instead, blowing him to pieces. Atomizer is left distraught by what he has been forced to do, but neither he nor Getaway realize the scene has been witnessed by Riptide, hiding the vents in the ceiling.

On the planet [[Frayus]], the [[Scavenger (group)|Scavengers]] are living up to their name scrounging around in the abandoned [[Decepticon]] outpost [[Camp Conclave]], but they find nothing of use. The misfits emerge from the soundproofed bunker to discover that the forces of the [[Galactic Council]] and the [[Black Block Consortia]] are at war on its doorstep, with [[Deathsaurus (Victory)|Deathsaurus]] and his troops—now under the command of former DJD member [[Nickel]]—caught in the middle! Nickel is puzzled as to the Consortia's sudden interest in this sector of space; Deathsaurus notes that it is rich in raw materials for [[eco-structuring|cyberforming]], but that export of those materials was recently taken over by a mysterious third party. The Scavengers, meanwhile, discover that the teleportal they used to get from [[Weak Anthropic Principle|their ship]] down to Frayus's surface has disappeared, evidently due to the orbiting ship being damaged in the battle—but a new avenue of escape opens when another portal appears right in front of them. On the other side, an unseen figure that the group recognizes beckons them through, offering them "everything they've ever wanted," and the Scavengers don't hestiate to jump in... followed a moment later by Nickel, who is unintentionally hurled through by an explosion.

Back on the ''Lost Light'', Riptide awakens First Aid from his memory loop and fills him in on recent events; the medic is able to deduce that Riptide is "naturally immune" to the nudge gun thanks to his low intelligence. The pair wake up the other sleepers, and, realizing that the whole ship is against them, they decide to make a run for it. However, Getaway and the security team are in the shuttle bay to greet the new arrival Blaster contacted earlier, so to get past them all, the team make a stop at the ship's morgue to pick up the corpse of [[Ambulon]], who is able to take the departed Rook's place as a leg for the Protectobots' combined form. As Defensor, the team smashes into the shuttle bay and start tearing through the security team, while Thunderclash tackles Getaway himself. Unfortunately, Thunderclash is immediately blasted by Getaway's "new hire": former enforcer of the [[Tyrest Accord]] and religious lunatic [[Star Saber (Victory)|Star Saber]]! Mirage entreats Star Saber to stand down and listen so he can explain what is going on, but Star Saber is heedless: he slices Mirage to pieces, then cleaves Defensor into his component Protectobots. The security team kills them all where they fall, save for First Aid, who tries to lug Thunderclash to safety with Riptide's help. They are only able to escape when Atomizer has an attack of conscience and leaps on Star Saber's back, blasting him with the nudge gun, allowing the three survivors to flee aboard Star Saber's ship.

A little later, Getaway contacts Froid to request another "favor" from [[Sunder (G1)|Sunder]]: Getaway has murdered Atomizer with his bare hands in retribution for his betrayal, and needs the security team's memories altered to make them think Thunderclash did it during the fight. Sunder's rising life cord price is too steep to pay, but before they can argue it out, Blaster breaks into the call with incredible news—the ''Lost Light'' has just arrived at its final destination. Before the ship lies a brilliant, shining, rainbow-hued metallic world.

They have found Cyberutopia!

As [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] and [[Soundwave (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Soundwave]] attempt to destroy them, [[Jetfire (G1)|Skyfire]], [[Wheeljack (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Wheeljack]], and [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] rescue them. Heading to Wheeljack's lab, they review the [[hypno-chip]] data they've gained.

On Earth, [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] is overseeing the construction of a large hydroelectric generator that will allow the Decepticons to harvest more energy. [[Doctor Arkeville]] is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with Megatron's disregard of his interests, and feels that [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] may be more sympathetic. [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] leads [[Jazz (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Jazz]], [[Prowl (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Prowl]], [[Ironhide (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ironhide]], and [[Bluestreak (G1)|Bluestreak]] (on surfboards) to the generator, where their wipeout prevents them from being able to stop the Decepticons from leaving in a [[Decepticon shuttle|shuttle]] carrying [[energon cube]]s. Arkeville is left to die, but Starscream saves him, having his own plans for the scientist.

On Cybertron, Wheeljack develops a device that should disrupt the hypno-chips' control over the humans. Spike attempts another rescue of his father, but is discovered by Shockwave. However, Wheeljack's device works as planned, and the Autobots flee back to Earth with Sparkplug, who is now freed from Decepticon control.

On an island, Megatron is overseeing the loading of a shuttle with energon cubes while [[Mirage (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Mirage]] goes to see if he can direct the humans away from the ship. Nearby, Starscream's own experiments in draining neural energy from Arkeville have failed to fill a single energon cube. Megatron discovers them and prepares to execute Starscream for treason (again). However, Mirage manages to direct the humans away from the shuttle, and Prime orders an attack. The Decepticons outnumber the Autobots, but Skyfire and company soon arrive to even the odds as well as to free the slaves from the Decepticons' control. However, Cybertron comes into view of the island, causing a tidal wave, and Megatron flees in the shuttle for Cybertron.

Spike declares that they just need to knock Cybertron out of Earth's orbit, but Prowl says that they'd need the equivalent of ten billion astroliters of energy to do that. Suddenly, Prime realizes that the [[energon]] on board the shuttle could theoretically be enough to move Cybertron. Prime orders the Autobots to shoot Megatron's shuttle. The plan works, with the energon on board moving Cybertron away from Earth.

Back on the island, Spike remarks to Optimus that Megatron appears to be gone for good, but the Autobot leader, knowing his mortal enemy's survival rate, is not so sure. In space, Megatron comes back online and flies away from the wreckage of the shuttle, vowing revenge.

** There's plenty of time for Mirage and Cliffjumper to join the group as they travel to the island, but the addition of ''just'' those two seems a bit odd. Where are Sunstreaker, Gears, Sideswipe, etc. during all this?
* As Prowl grouses about Megatron's energon supply, Jazz has some weird extra lines on his optic visor.
* Reflector's voice comes in its usual triplicate form... even though there's only one of him present.

* A series of "natural disaster" shots is recycled from Part 1 as Megatron's ship explodes... including one of Prime talking to himself, this time without any dialog to go with his moving mouthplate.
* The last shot of orbital Cybertron once again includes clouds ''behind'' the orbiting planet.
* Optimus is missing the horizontal lines on his tummy grille as Spike takes stock of the day's work.

===Continuity errors===
* As seen last episode, Ironhide is part of the Autobot rescue party that boards Skyfire and arrives on Cybertron, only to disappear immediately after. In this episode, we see that he actually stayed behind on Earth.
* Soundwave's presence on Cybertron is not inexplicable — there's no reason he couldn't just fly there, and later have flown back to Earth before Cybertron was knocked out of its orbit. But it's a bit odd for him to have made the trip for no obvious reason or explanation.
* When we last saw [[Wheeljack's workshop]] in "[[Divide and Conquer]]", it was sealed by a computerized Decepticon lock. This time, the Autobots just drive right into it, no problem.
* When the Autobots and Spike arrive in the workshop, Wheeljack is wondering how the Decepticons are controlling Sparkplug, Bumblebee says that it is mind control, to which Wheeljack replies, "Mind control! Of course!" ...Seriously, what else could it have been? And how did Wheeljack, master inventor, not realize this when Bumblebee did?

His attempts to convert Doctor Arkeville's neural energy into energon fail, of course; what this says about the intelligence of both scientists is debatable.
* As [[Carnage in C-Minor|often]] [[The Transformers: The Movie|happens]], the Autobots' claim to be outnumbered is a bit dubious. There are 8 Autobots (Prime's surfer six, plus Mirage & Cliffjumper) against only Megatron, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Rumble, and a couple of Reflectors.
* Prime's comment to Prowl ("If we lose now, Cybertron's next orbit will tear the earth apart!") doesn't make much sense, and calls out the same total lack of strategy that the Autobots had in the last episode - namely, they aren't doing or planning ''anything'' to actually make Cybertron go away.
* Prime really does just kind of sit there and let Megatron run off into his spaceship.
* Did Spike and Prowl both hit on the idea of blowing up Megatron's ship, and just not actually ''say'' so? Or were they both hoping to ''shoot'' Cybertron out of its orbit?
* Wouldn't blowing up Megatron's ship be a good idea anyway? Why were they just letting him go?
* Megatron is able to survive an explosion which had enough energy to shift the orbit of Cybertron. Considering previous evidence of his durability, how he could survive a planet-moving blast is a mystery.
* Wouldn't a giant explosion just wreck both planets, rather than neatly pushing one of them away?
*And for that matter, if the explosion pushed Cybertron away, why wasn't Earth moved in the opposite direction?

'''Pointblank''' would say that war is hell, if he wasn't a bot of very few words. Words make [[Trukk not munky|arguments]], and arguments make wars, and he wants no more of those. That isn't to say he's a poor fighter. He just wants a quiet place to sit down with a good datatrack and a glass of frosty [[energon]], without a Decepticon missile spoiling everything, and if he should find himself pounding the ever-loving lock washers out of the shooter of that missile, it isn't because he bears grudges or even out of regret for the waste of a good drink. No, it's just on general principle. Every battle won brings him closer to retirement, which of course is never going to happen in a million years. No hard feelings, though.

[[Peacemaker]] keeps trying to cheer up his Autobot partner, which doesn't make sense, since he's not really upset. He just wants to retire, perhaps to a cozy little polished-titanium cottage with [[Morphobot]]s twining up the walls, and maybe a cozy nuclear fire blazing on the lead-lined hearth—or for whatever rest an old Autobot soldier yearns. Just because he's pretty sure this won't happen and he'll end up a flattened, burned casualty of a never-ending war, doesn't mean he's depressed, does it?

During the war on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], the city where Pointblank lived came under attack by [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]]'s crew of Decepticons and was destroyed. Pointblank and numerous other captives were being marched to the [[smelting pool]]s when [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]]'s band of Autobots attacked, driving off their Decepticon captors.

Pointblank joined Maximus's group and was one of the first Autobots to volunteer to join Maximus when he declared his intent to leave the war-torn Cybertron behind and try to live in peace. However, the native creatures of their newfound home, [[Nebulos]], were suspicious of his warlike race. While Fortress Maximus and a few others surrendered their heads to achieve peace, Pointblank and the rest of the Autobots surrendered their weapons as a sign of goodwill. {{storylink|Ring of Hate!}}

Those who still had their heads started constructing a headquarters in a nearby forest clearing. As Pointblank oversaw the installation of a [[thermoelectric wall module]], the Autobots were visited by a committee from the [[Council of Peers]], who were interested in learning more about their alien visitors. Unknown to them, however, was that this visit allowed the politician [[Zarak (G1)|Zarak]] to contact their rival Decepticons on Cybertron. As a result of Zarak's subterfuge, the Decepticons soon followed the Autobots to Nebulos, and war broke out. {{storylink|Broken Glass!}}

As the war dragged on, both battle and propaganda began to swing in Zarak's favor. Fortress Maximus himself was captured. With Maximus out of the picture, Pointblank assumed an authority role within the Autobot ranks, possibly acting as group commander. Those Nebulans who supported Fortress Maximus's Nebulon parter, [[Galen Kord|Galen]], were considered criminals by the government. A few who dared to defy this edict underwent the [[binary bonding]] process, took on code names, and became Targetmasters. Pointblank was soon paired up with [[Peacemaker]].

Pointblank led his fellow Targetmasters on their first assignment to protect [[The Nursery]] from Decepticon interference. He and his team fared well against [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] and the [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]], but when the Autobots realized their presence was causing the Nursery to be destroyed, Pointblank ordered his troops into retreat. The Autobots soon extrapolated this experience to the larger picture; realizing they were doing more harm than good, they left Nebulos. {{storylink|Brothers in Armor!!}}

When their restraints were blasted by [[Hardhead (G1)|Hardhead]], the Autobot Targetmasters soon freed their partners Peacemaker, [[Pinpointer (G1)|Pinpointer]] and [[Spoilsport]] and set about the Decepticons.'' {{storylink|Worlds Apart!}}

Pointblank was hanging out on Cybertron when [[Brainstorm (G1)|Brainstorm]] used a race between [[Hot Rod (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Hot Rod]] and [[Blurr (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Blurr]] as an experiment to demonstrate the Autobots could improve their capabilities with secondary human partners or operators. The discussion was interrupted by [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]], who warned the crew on Cybertron that the Decepticons had just raided [[Autobot City (G1)|Autobot City]] on Earth, and were now headed for the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]], 12 levels below Generator C on Cybertron. Pointblank and the other available Autobots loaded into a shuttle and took the largest ventilation shaft in existence deep under Cybertron's surface. They found [[Scourge (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Scourge]] attempting to open the chamber, but stole the key back from him just before a bolt of plasma energy launched their shuttle into deep space. They eventually crashed on the planet [[Nebulos]], but luckily [[Kup (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Kup]] suggested they "think good thoughts", and everyone walked away from the planetfall without a scratch. When healed, Pointblank told Chromedome how he'd now become one with a [[Peacemaker|small Master robot]] in both body and mind and how it could transform into a powerful weapon attachment for his arm. Fortress named them the "Targetmasters". Chromedome was not too keen on the Targetmasters' arrogance and claims of power and experience. When talking to Fortress, Pointblank sensed [[Ratbat (G1)|someone]] else in the command room. Abruptly, the spy fled Maximus, revealing that the Decepticons were in fact on Master mining [[G-Metal]]. Landing on the planet, Pointblank and his Targetmaster team were ambushed by the Decepticon Targetmasters. During a quick skirmish, they were accidentally caught in a flash flood created by a stray laser blast and assumed dead by their evil counterparts. After recovering from the loss, Pointblank insisted on restoring the honor that the loss had cost him. The group continued their search 'till they found a group of Decepticons returning to what could be their secret base. Pointblank reported this to Fortress and was told to continue his investigation. Later, Pointblank found Transformer footprints leading to a large cave entrance, which, after deeper inspection, revealed the Decepticon base, in which [[Zarak Shield|something]] important was being built. Peacemaker and the other two Autobot Targetmaster partners volunteered to go investigate. The Autobot Headmasters arrived on the scene and were also ambushed by the Decepticon Targetmasters, but were quickly saved by Pointblank and company. To calm the worries of Fortress and Chromedome about the new Zarak Shield, Pointblank and the Autobot Targetmasters reminded their commander that the shield was used as a defensive weapon, rather than an offensive one for a major attack. Pointblank suggested if they split up the Decepticons and destroyed them in small numbers, they would leave Scorponok with a super defensive shield but no warriors to dish out the offensive attacks for him. Fortress approved of the plan, but Chromedome objected. Pointblank assured that the Decepticons wouldn't escape destruction, and his group took their leave to the hidden Decepticon base.

During their attempt to sneak up on the Decepticons, Pointblank and the Autobot Targetmasters were spotted by the Decepticon Targetmaster partner [[Caliburst (G1)|Caliburst]], who informed the others of the surprise attack. Pointblank sensed something was wrong with the Decepticons' retreat formation, and his fears proved sound when the Decepticon Targetmasters made their presence known and rained lasers on them. Though outnumbered 3 to 7 by the Decepticon Headmasters, Targetmasters and Sixshot, Pointblank's team held a strong front and found an opening when a Planet Master reconnaissance jet distracted the Decepticons. The Autobots left the battle, hoping to cause their enemies to follow, but Sixshot, feeling the Targetmasters' movements were suspicious, ordered his group not to pursue.

Instead of the entire Decepticon team being led to their death in a large Planet Master ambush, Soundblaster alone followed discreetly and learned of the small base. Pointblank didn't expect this much firepower from the youth of Planet Master and wondered who could have made them take this action. He returned to Fortress to report that he felt Chromedome was logically behind the growth of offense from the small band of warriors.

Pointblank arrived at a large battle between the natives of Master, led by Chromedome, and the Decepticons, but high casualties among the Autobot ranks left Pointblank with little confidence in Chromedome's victory.

After Fortress was downed in a small skirmish between himself and Scorponok, the Decepticons all left Planet Master for Earth. Chromedome, being hotheaded, attempted to follow, but Pointblank held him back, as enough people had died that day. When Chromedome objected, Pointblank punched the Headmaster right in the face to straighten him out Chromedome objected again, and Pointblank throttled him, saying he didn't understand the big picture and that the dead hadn't died with peace or with honor. Pointblank was then shocked to see [[Kirk]] was still alive. {{storylink|Operation: Destroy the Decepticons}}

When Daniel went missing, Pointblank and the Targetmasters opted to follow Scorponok to Earth while Fortress and the rest of the Autobots found him. After Daniel was found, Pointblank expressed relief, but also reported that Scorponok had just entered the Sol System. He informed Fortress of Scorponok's propulsion failure and continued his pursuit. Later while communicating with Fortress he was ambushed by the Decepticon Targetmasters only to be saved by the Autobot Headmasters. When Chromedome arranged a one on one duel with Sixshot, Pointblank gave some words of advice to the young Headmaster. As the Battleship Maximus returned to Earth, the Autobots learned of a series of mysterious Death Towers rising around the globe. In Santiago, [[Chile]], Pointblank and the Targetmasters followed up on an investigation by the [[Throttlebot]]s and the [[Clone (subgroup)|Autobot Clones]]. While Sureshot was taking energy readings on the tower, [[Predaking (G1)|Predaking]] leapt out of hiding and presented himself for battle. Pointblank said, "Not now, we're busy" and shot him down with one blast. In Dark Ages [[United Kingdom|England]], they made contact with a native, [[Merlin]], who promised to keep their existence a secret. However in [[484]], Merlin beseeched them to help his people against the the imminent threat of destruction by invading [[Saxon]]s. Judging that [[Camelot]] was proof of the worthiness of humankind, the Knights decided to render assistance to [[King Arthur]]'s forces. They granted the staff of Quintessa to Merlin and combined into Dragonstorm. As a mighty gestalt dragon, the Knights easily wrought devastation against the enemies of Camelot. Afterwards, knights human and Cybertronian celebrated their alliance.

An unspecified time later, the Knights moved their ship to the bottom of the [[Atlantic Ocean]], wherein they slumbered in stasis along with Merlin's corpse and the staff. By the 21st century, both the [[Knights of the Round Table]] and the Knights of Iacon had fallen into legend. Thanks to the efforts of the [[Order of the Witwiccans]], Dragonstorm was misbelieved to merely be the exaggerated story of a catapult. In the meantime, another knight came to Earth in search of the Last Knight, prophecied to be crucial against Quintessa, who was moving Cybertron towards Earth. Though this knight was shot down by the [[Transformers Reaction Force|TRF]], he gave the Talisman to [[Cade Yeager]]. Yeager and Merlin's descendant [[Viviane Wembly]] were able to board [[HMS Alliance|HMS ''Alliance'']] and travel to the Knights' undersea ship. Cade inadvertently woke Skullitron, who immediately began attacking the apparent intruders, only to be gunned down by the TRF. His fellow Knights soon awoke as well, only to be knocked down by a newly-arrived [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]], now under the thrall of Quintessa. In short order, Optimus seized the staff, escaped, was knocked back to his senses, and then lost the staff to Quintessa's new [[Decepticon]] allies.

The Knights soon recovered themselves and came outside. Outraged that Optimus had been in Quintessa's service (and not seeming to care that it was not willful), the Knights beat down Optimus, one preparing to execute him. As Yeager attempted to stop this, his Talisman transformed into Excalibur, which he used to stop a Knight's blade. Recognizing Yeager as the Last Knight, the other Knights stopped attacking and joined the Autobot-TRF plan against Quintessa. The Knights boarded the Autobot ship to travel to Quintessa's base on a hanging section of the newly-arrived [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. From the ship's hull, the Knights combined into Dragonstorm and took flight against Quintessa's forces. Dragonstorm also dropped Optimus into battle against [[Infernocus]]. The allied humans, Autobots, and Knights emerged victorious, stopping Cybertron from consuming Earth's energy and forcing Quintessa and the Decepticons to flee. It contains numerous habitation suites for its crew, various offices and workshops for those who require them, a bar redubbed "[[Swerve's]]" after the ship's launch, and a large oil reservoir where introspective bots sometimes go to ponder. The ship's hangars carry at least half a dozen shuttlecraft, including the ''[[Leading Light]]'' and [[Rodpod]]. Rodimus upgraded the ''Lost Light'''s armament with a batch of proton missile launchers after a visit to [[Hedonia]].

The ''Lost Light'' is a "hop ship" which utilizes insanely advanced [[quantum jump|quantum engines]] to travel almost instantaneously across vast distances, though those distances can be limited by the amount of power available to the ship. (You don't want to be standing next to these engines when they activate, as they break the laws of physics in ways that can be very unhealthy.) On top, the ship carries a group of "fuel quills", essential to its operation. The ship's fate was far more complicated, however: its hyper-advanced quantum engines malfunctioned, narrowing its choice of destinations not to a single point in space, but to ''two'' points in space. The Sparkeater that none of the Autobots knew of broke out during their journey, killing [[Shock (G1)|Shock]] before going on a hunt for the "brightest [[spark]]" on the ship: [[Animus]]. Rodimus had the rest of the crew locked in their quarters and, using Animus as bait, lured the Sparkeater to the engine room, where he mashed it into a generator when the ''Lost Light'' did its next quantum jump. Unfortunately the bold captain miscalculated, and his head became emeshed in the generators as well, killing him. The crew held a [[Transformer funerary practices|funeral]] according to spectralist rites, and launched Rodimus's body space aboard a coffin made from the ship's engine casings.

No longer feeling beholden to Rodimus, Drift made a confession to now-commander Ultra Magnus: secreted below the lowest level of the ship was a hidden chamber, a "slow time" cell, in which a captive [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] was suspended.

Meanwhile, Rewind began keeping a travelogue of the ship's adventures, and Crosscut finished his play ''[[Information Creep]]'', announcing its debut performance in his newly opened playhouse space.

Unbeknownst to the crew, someone deactivated the slow cell, unmasking Overlord's energy signature. The Decepticon Justice Division caught up with the ship near the lectureworld of Ofsted XVII. Then they killed everyone on board.

Storming the ship's bridge, they annihilated the command crew. Tarn dispatched Ultra Magnus with a single blast; one of the DJD subsequently pulled his inner Minimus Ambus form out of the Magnus Armor. Perceptor, Mainframe, Swerve, and Whirl were killed off in nearly the same moment. Some of the deceased had their brain modules yanked out by Helex and placed in their mouths; others were forced to transform to vehicle mode before being executed and their transformation cogs harvested to feed Tarn's transformation addiction. {{storylink|slaughterhouse}}

As the DJD slaughtered their way through the ship, the mounting casualties included Pipes and Red Alert (killed by Helex), Cyclonus (blasted by Vos, wielded by Tarn), Cosmos (killed by Tesarus), and Dipstick and Chromedome (killed by Kaon). They forced Rewind to film the entire slaughter, saying they'd spare Chromedome if he did, only to kill him anyway. Subsequently, a massive three-way battle occurred around the derelict ship and on the surface of Ofsted XVII, between the [[Black Block Consortia]], the [[Galactic Council]], and the DJD. The DJD didn't fare as well as they might have; two of their number were left damaged and helpless on the planet's surface. The ship was damaged when it unexpectedly stuck a piece of space debris. After some quick repair work by Chromedome, Brainstorm and Highbrow (oh, and Trailbreaker was there too), the debris - actually a thumb belonging to the legendary Titan Metroplex - was brought aboard. This new cargo attracted the interest of Lockdown's Titan Hunters, who arrived and boarded the ship while the entire crew was accidentally frozen in place by one of Brainstorm's inventions. Only quick thinking by Trailbreaker (still active due to his forcefield's protection) kept the Decepticons with making off with the Metroplex fragment. {{storylink|The Reluctant Specialist}}

Ultra Magnus would later teach Tailgate the [[Autobot Code]]. Meanwhile, Red Alert told Rung he was hearing noises below his room in the Sparkeater chamber; Rung recognized the sound as a slowed-down voice saying "kill... me..." over and over again. Meanwhile, Ratchet, Drift, and Pipes investigated a significant decline in survival rates at the Delphi medical center; Ratchet and his comrades returned with new crew members including the freshly reactivated [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]]. {{storylink|How Ratchet Got His Hands Back}}

Despite attempts to give him therapy, Maximus - traumatized by his defeat and torture at the hands of Overlord - shot a bunch of crew members, before taking Rung and Whirl hostage so he could demand the ship be taken back to Cybertron. Swerve and Rewind, who had been replacing rivets on the ship's hull, attempted to shoot him through the window, but accidentally injured Rung instead. Elsewhere, Red Alert used the deceased Ore's drill arm to find the source of the noise he had heard earlier. Drilling through the floor of the Sparkeater chamber, the lowest level of the ship according its schematics, he found a hidden chamber in which a captive [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] was suspended, begging to be killed. {{storylink|Interiors}}

The ''Lost Light'' finally reached its first major destination, the planet of [[Theophany]], where the crew expected to find the [[Circle of Light]]. Instead, however, all that remained was the razed and deserted ruins of the Circle's Crystal City. The [[Galactic Council]]'s enforcement ship, ''[[The Benign Intervention]]'', also appeared on the scene, giving the Autobots one hour to explore the planet's surface. Rodimus's exploration team discovered a slumbering [[Metrotitan (body-type)|Metrotitan]] beneath Crystal City... but Chromedome's attempts to hack into the behemoth's mind caused it to reactivate and fire a blast of energy into space, damaging the ''Benign Intervention'' and incurring the full wrath of its troops. The ''Lost Light'' was contained in an [[incineration shell]] and was seconds away from total annihilation when Rodimus's team freed the Metrotitan, who in turn teleported the ''Lost Light'' and her crew away from Theophany. Theorizing that the Decepticons were behind the destruction of Crystal City, Rodimus decided to take the ''Lost Light'' near the [[Argon Nebulae]], where Decepticon activity had been reported. {{storylink|Primus: You, Me, and Other Revelations|You, Me, and Other Revelations}}

The Decepticon group that the crew engaged turned out not to be linked to the disappearance of the Circle of Light. Several members of the crew were injured fighting the group - including Rewind, causing Chromedome to agree to work with [[Drift (G1)|Drift]] on the Overlord project. {{storylink|Before & After}}

The ship later stopped at [[Hedonia]] where the crew got some much needed R&R while testing out Brainstorm and Rung's new holomatter avatars. {{storylink|Cybertronian Homesick Blues}} While there, Skids, Whirl and Rewind met two other races of transforming beings - the [[Ammonite|Ammonites]] and their enemies, the [[Terradore]]s. The meeting ended with Whirl killing the leader of Terradores.

Some time later, the ship encountered the legendary [[Thunder Clash|Thunderclash]] and his ship, the ''[[Vis Vitalis]]''. Much to the dismay of Rodimus, Thunderclash also turned out to be in pursuit of the Knights of Cybertron and required the ''Lost Light'''s quantum engines to repower his ship. Thunderclash's second in command Paddox turned out to be a group of combined Ammonites; he was neutralized by Swerve and Rung, and the two ships departed with Thunderclash promising to inform the Knights of Cybertron of Rodimus' sacrifice if he encountered them first. {{storylink|Little Victories}}

During one of Chromedome's cerebral incursions into Overlord's mind, the [[Phase Sixer]] escaped from his slow cell on the bottom of the ship's hull {{storylink|Remembrance Day}} and went on a killing spree through the ship. The combined efforts of Chromedome, Fortress Maximus and Rewind forced him back into his cell, which was jettisoned from the hull and destroyed - though at the cost of Rewind's life. {{storylink|Under Cold Blue Stars}} After Overlord's rampage, a mass funeral was held for the half dozen casualties of the attack. Meeting with Rodimus, Drift agreed to take the fall, allowing himself to be banished for allowing Overlord onboard. {{storylink|The Gloaming}}

Shortly after the funeral, Ultra Magnus suddenly sat bolt upright from his medibay bed, ''levitated'' to the shuttle bay, and departed the ''Lost Light'' aboard a stolen shuttle. Rodimus set the ship on a pursuit course, arriving at a huge dimensional portal. Passing through it, the crew made a discovery beyond their reckoning: the long-lost Cybertronian moon, Luna 1.

The ship remained in orbit while a small crew went to the surface to investigate. Soon, however, the ''Lost Light'' was invaded by an army of the giant golden robots known as [[Legislator]]s, {{storylink|Remain in Light 1 of 5: The Fecund Moon|The Fecund Moon}} who teleported aboard and soon overran the crew despite their best efforts, taking them captive, while Rodimus's surface team was likewise captured by the forces of the unhinged Chief Justice [[Tyrest]], who had set up shop on Luna 2. {{storylink|Remain in Light 2 of 5: House of Ambus|House of Ambus}} The ship was liberated when Tailgate shut down all the Legislators by repealing the code of law that controlled them, though the ship was left in thoroughly trashed condition; stopping Tyrest's schemes also resulted in the destruction of Rodimus's half of the Matrix - along with its crucial map.

Eager to put the depressing detour behind them, the crew of the ''Lost Light'' soon departed from Luna 1, leaving behind Red Alert and Fortress Maximus to keep watch over the rouge moon. Having lost their guide, the next plan was to find and join forces with Thunder Clash. {{storylink|Remain in Light 5 of 5: This Calamitous Life|This Calamitous Life}} {{storylink|The Sound of Breaking Glass}} An effort to get the Circle of Light survivors to join the quest did little except persuade them to go find Thunder Clash themselves. {{storylink|Little Victories}}

Some time later, Rodimus's guilt over the Overlord incident got the better of him, and he came clean to the crew about his role in the fiasco. Invoking the [[Crisis Act]], he had the ship's crew vote on his leadership. Though the majority favored him remaining in command, a large minority voted against him, a fact he tried to keep in mind by carving the vote results on his palm. {{storylink|Burning Bright: Dark Cybertron Chapter 8}}

The ''Lost Light'' next answered a distress call from none other than Orion Pax himself, materializing above Pax's ship in time to rescue it from the gravity well of Gorlam Prime as it collapsed into a [[Dead Universe]] portal. Pax's small crew was happily welcomed aboard, but the mood changed when Starscream contacted the ship, wanting to speak with Cyclonus about Cybertron's growing Dead Universe problems. {{storylink|Dark Dawn: Dark Cybertron Chapter 1|Dark Dawn}} The ''Lost Light'' remained in orbit over the planet-consuming portal while Pax and a small team prepared to enter the Dead Universe and confront the source of its latest upheavals, with Pax, Magnus and Rodimus killing time in Swerve's while Brainstorm readied protective fields for them. After Pax's crew departed, the ''Lost Light'' made ready to pursue war criminal Jhiaxus - only to be pulled off course, literally, when the fragment of Metroplex began levitating and pushing against the ship's bulkheads. Deducing that Metroplex was calling his missing piece home, Ultra Magnus made the decision to change plans and take the ship to answer the call.

One quantum jump later, the ''Lost Light'' materialized at the bottom of a reddish sea, surrounded by unknown robotic entities {{storylink|Winners & Losers: Dark Cybertron Chapter 3|Winners & Losers}} who soon engaged the crew in a massive battle, with the opening salvo blowing out the ship's bridge windows and flooding the bridge. During the fight, a small crew aboard the Rod Pod found their way to Metroplex himself, journeying into the Titan's head. {{storylink|Into the Abyss: Dark Cybertron Chapter 4|Into the Abyss}} Finding him ill, they sought his brain (missing), then headed for his spark. {{storylink|No Exit: Dark Cybertron Chapter 6|No Exit}} Outside, the crew of the ''Lost Light'' was led in battle against the attacking Ammonites by Hound. Their foes suddenly turned and headed for Metroplex; the exploratory team was soon on the verge of being overwhelmed. {{storylink|The Dead Are Not Enough: Dark Cybertron Chapter 7|The Dead Are Not Enough}} Finally locating Metroplex's brain, Ultra Magnus contacted the ship's bridge and had a portion of its power used to recharge Metroplex, revitalizing his depleted systems. Empowered once more, Metroplex teleported himself and the ''Lost Light'' back to Cybertron. {{storylink|Burning Bright: Dark Cybertron Chapter 8}}

The ''Lost Light'' arrived over Cybertron with such force that it was unable to avoid a crash landing on Cybertron's surface. Metroplex went to work on the Necrotitan that was threatening the planet's inhabitants, at one point preventing the undead giant from damaging the ship. When Megatron managed to space bridge the thumb fragment out of the ''Lost Light'''s hold and reunite it with its owner, Metroplex was cured of the ailment that had disabled him, and quickly destroyed the Necrotitan. {{storylink|Finis Temporis: Dark Cybertron Chapter 9}}

As the combatants basked in this victory, the ''Lost Light'' served as both a medical center - Ratchet patched up the wounded Megatron there, and Arcee was rebuilt into a new form - and as a place of relaxation, as Transformers from both factions found their way to Swerve's for drink and recuperation. Swerve himself nearly had a cerebral hemorrhage when Blurr showed up in the bar. This downtime was short-lived, however, as Shockwave's final endgame revealed itself with the arrival of 70 billion Ammonites and the incipient collapse of space-time. {{storylink|The Becoming: Dark Cybertron Chapter 10}}

Amid swarming masses of foes, the ''Lost Light'' frantically lifted off, but soon set down again to discharge Megatron, Bumblebee, and a small team, with the intent of taking the fight to Shockwave. {{storylink|Black Planet: Dark Cybertron Chapter 11}} After dropping off the strike team, the ship took the air once again, its weapons picking off some 10,000 Ammonites as the battle raged. The Ammonite army spontaneously exploded shortly thereafter, and the ship's crew used the ''Lost Light'' as a battering ram to smash Monstructor - the last combatant still standing - into his component Transformers. They then dropped down in time to rescue the strike team from the collapsing singularity that resulted from the derailment of Shockwave's plans, and set down before Metroplex. The last to disembark were Optimus Prime and Megatron, the latter braced to unveil his new decision to join the Autobots... {{storylink|...And the Damage Done: Dark Cybertron Finale}}

In the wake of the great battle, Atomizer oversaw having the ship's name painted on the sides, while Perceptor and the crew restored the ship to full function. The ship's departure was stalled, however, by the trial of Megatron. {{storylink|World, Shut Your Mouth Part 1: Towards Peace}} The ''Lost Light'' was used to transport many Transformers to Luna 2 for the trial. {{storylink|World, Shut Your Mouth Part 2: Words Hang in the Air}}

Six months after the defeat of Shockwave's plans, the ''Lost Light'' finally departed Cybertron once more. A number of new faces had joined the crew... including its new co-captain, Megatron! {{storylink|World, Shut Your Mouth Part 1: Towards Peace}} Among other changes, Swerve assigned the reprogrammed Legislator "[[Ten]]" as his new bouncer, Whirl was appointed as "Entertainments Officer", bringing on a large cache of Earth movies, and Bluestreak became the latest bartender at Swerve's.

As the ship headed towards its next destination, it encountered a coffin floating in space. Megatron had it brought aboard; right about then, things began to disappear - a batch of nucleon rods, one of Swerve's Engex vats, bits of signs, doors, bulkheads, even whole crew members. {{storylink|World, Shut Your Mouth Part 2: Words Hang in the Air}} Rodimus was shocked when Megatron showed him the contents of the coffin: it was his own deceased body! His shock was soon compounded as the ''Lost Light'' itself began to disintegrate, more and more pieces vanishing into thin air. The crew evacuated aboard the ship's shuttles, as the ''Lost Light'' disappeared completely. {{storylink|World, Shut Your Mouth Part 3: Predestination: A Beginner's Guide}} Soon, all of her original crew would vanish as well, leaving only those who had joined after the return trip to Cybertron. {{storylink|Twenty Plus One}}

Those few remaining soon discovered the grisly remains of a quantum duplicate ''Lost Light'', with Rewind as the only survivor among the murdered crew. Eventually, Nautica worked out what had happened, explaining how the two versions of the ship split during the original quantum jump. Once she directed Megatron and Rewind to deactivate the duplicate ship's quantum drums, the intact ''Lost Light'' and its vanished crew were restored to existence, while the shattered duplicate ceased to be.

*At least one member of the ''Lost Light'' crew was the result of artist error. In [[The Gloaming|issue #16]], a misdrawn Chromedome was transformed into the unofficial [[Unofficial conventions|TFCon]] fan-character "[[Toxin]]" by colorist [[Josh Burcham]] via an edit to the character's lineart and colors. Additionally, a scripted appearance for Generation 1 Landmine in ''[[The Reluctant Specialist|Spotlight: Trailcutter]]'' was drawn instead as [[Landmine (Energon)|''Energon'' Landmine]], although this wiki currently treats this as an appearance for the G1 character.
* A panel in Issue #2 of ''More Than Meets the Eye'' makes clear that the bridge is located at the front tip of the ship, in the huge band of windows. An observation deck is located there as well.
* Speaking of huge, the 10x15 mile dimensions of the ship given in "Into the Abyss" don't jibe with almost any of the artwork. While the ship is clearly ''big'', the given size would make characters invisible alongside it, but they are commonly visible next to it throughout the ''Dark Cybertron'' event. When set down on a planetary surface, the ship's upper reaches, presumably 5 or more miles up, should fade off into the stratosphere. Its huge size certainly would not lend itself to the shuttle-like tasks that it undertakes in ''Dark Cybertron'', either.
