==Synopsis==
In the city of [[Trigon]], [[Thunder Clash|Thunderclash]] and [[Metalhawk (G1)|Metalhawk]]'s [[Elite Guard]] squads are dealing with an invasion of [[Virulent Clone|large metal-eating robot insects]]. The overenthusiastic [[Ironfist (G1)|Ironfist]] uses his explosives to take out the bugs, but unfortunately, it knocks his comrades back as well. Even worse, the bugs turn out to be capable of flight, and the explosion has made them very angry. As the bugs swarm, [[Dion (G1)|Dion]] is annoyed, having wanted to fight real Decepticons. His rant is interrupted by Ironfist, who blows up one of the bugs, sending fluid all over Dion. The two begin to bicker, but Metalhawk cuts them off, having [[Over-Run (G1)|Over-Run]] send his [[Attack Copter|drone helicopter]] in to finish the bugs off.

With the battle over, [[Kup (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Kup]] takes a moment to relax, but is startled when [[Magnum]] beeps in with a transmissions. The Elite Guard commander tells Thunderclash that he and his squad are being assigned to the [[Centry Quadrant]], as trouble is beginning to brew in the area. Magnum has Metalhawk take them to [[Space Port Bravo]] on board the ''[[Hawk's Claw]]''. After some friendly banter, the squads pack up, heading off to Space Port Bravo.

Arriving as the sun rises, the squads say their goodbyes. Dion is somewhat incredulous at Kup's insistence on calling him lad, only being a few cycles younger than him, and Kup notes he's the only bot he's ever served with that's younger than himself. Metalhawk hopes for some time to relax, but Dion is still eager as ever to fight some Decepticons. Over-Run questions if Dion has ever seen a Decepticon, and the young Autobot suddenly goes silent, walking off as Metalhawk shoots a nasty glare at Over-Run.

At Elite Guard Headquarters, Metalhawk is greeted by Magnum and [[Sentinel Major]], and is surprised to see the former somewhere other than behind his desk. Magnum informs the group that Thunderclash's crew has been given the ''[[Beast With Wings]]'', believing not even [[Landshark]] could wreck the massive ship. Magnum goes on to commend Metalhawk and his group for their victory in Trigon, noting they've even surpassed the skills of Thunderclash's squad. With this in mind, Magnum gives them a special mission; as Decepticon activity grows, most of the High Council is beginning to shift their support from the Elite Guard to [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]]'s new "[[Optimus Prime (G1)|Prime]]". Magnum, however, still believes that the Elite Guard is the Autobot's best chance, and for this, he has created a new special ops unit to go after alleged Decepticon leaders. ==Synopsis==
[[Metalhawk (G1)|Metalhawk]] and [[Onslaught (G1)|Onslaught]]'s squads are out on patrol, looking for Decepticon activity. The two commanders trade stories, but Onslaught has everyone hush when he hears something. Spotting a [[Dropkick (G1)|Decepticon truck]] carrying cubes, the Autobots watch as it swerves around the corner, dropping one of cubes. The cube transformers into a Decepticon [[warrior]], and the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]] take him to an abandoned structure to interrogate him. [[Vortex (G1)|Vortex]] assures Metalhawk that they won't need any help, as [[Brawl (G1)|Brawl]] threatens the Decepticon with a sword. Moments later, a shot rings out, concerning Metalhawk, but Onslaught tells him it was the result of a self-destruct mechanism. As Brawl exits the structure with his smoking gun, Onslaught tells Metalhawk they've obtained coordinates for their target, a supposed Decepticon leader named [[Shadowcaster]]. Although Metalhawk is disquieted, he follows the others to the coordinates, ignoring Onslaught's obvious lies.

Later, the Autobots find a heavily fortified base. [[Ironfist (G1)|Ironfist]] grabs his explosives, having upgraded them since their last mission together, and Onslaught comes up with a plan. Metalhawk is to drop the charges from above, while Vortex keeps watch on the leaders and where they flee. [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]] is to drop a fog grenade into their hideout, flushing them back out into the open. [[Over-Run (G1)|Over-Run]], Ironfist, Dion, Brawl, and [[Blast Off (G1)|Blast Off]] will distract the guards, while Onslaught will take out their leader. The bots put the plan in action; Brawl is somewhat annoyed he doesn't get to lead the charge, to which Over-Run responds with a crack about the Autobot tank's speed. Vortex spots the officers heading into a large purple building, and Swindle goes to drop the fog grenades, although not without complaining about the lack of loot, earning a reprimand about his thieving habit. Spotting his target, Onslaught snipes Shadowcaster, offlining the Decepticon. The Autobots disengage, heading back to Checkpoint Alpha.

At Checkpoint Alpha, near an abandoned bar, Onslaught is greeted by Metalhawk and the others. The Autobots commend each other, with even the braggart Over-Run complimenting Onslaught's aim. Onslaught notice that Swindle and Vortex aren't at the checkpoint yet, and sure enough, the two are carrying a large piece of equipment. While the mission was successful, Onslaught can't help but feel that something is off.
