'''Galaxy Shuttle''' (ギャラクシーシャトル ''Gyarakushī Shatoru'') does not have a very interesting name. Nor does he have an interesting personality. Nor does he have an interesting job, which is basically "[[Jetfire (G1)|Autobot bus]], but in space". Sometimes people even forget his name and just call him "'''Shuttle Robo'''" (シャトルロボ ''Shatoru Robo'').

However, he does have a funny voice and the ridiculously interesting "Meteor Crusher" ability, which allows him to become the center of a swarm of meteors which he can use to smash land-based targets to a fine powder. ''Yikes''.

To say that '''Clouder''' (クラウダー ''Kuraudā'') is a bit on the mysterious side would be putting it mildly. Nobody really knows who he is, where he comes from, or how he found his [[Transtector]]... but then, that air of the enigmatic is what you want in a double agent, isn't it? About the only thing that ''is'' known about Clouder is that he's a complete techno-geek, who is fascinated by military weapons, so it probably wasn't much of a surprise that upon bonding to his Transtector, he decided to join up with the [[Decepticon]]s in order to fully exploit the destructive capabilities of his new robot body. When he came to witness their lack of concern for their comrades, however, Clouder realised that the [[Autobot]]s were a much better fit for him.

As a [[Godmaster (lifeform)|Godmaster]], Clouder is bonded to a Transtector from the [[G Nebula 89|G Nebula]], which is capable of adopting two distinct [[robot mode]]s: a humanoid Autobot, and a Decepticon eagle. In line with this unique transformation ability, Clouder's unique set of [[Master-Brace]]s feature an Autobot [[insignia]] on one bracelet, and a Decepticon symbol on the other. Whichever bracelet is atop the other when Clouder cries "Masterforce!" denotes which set of Godmaster armor he will summon: standard humanoid armor that allows him to unlock his Autobot robot form, or bat-winged armor to unlock his avian Decepticon identity. This distinctive special ability has provided Clouder with his ''nom de guerre'', '''Doubleclouder''' (ダブルクラウダー ''Daburukuraudā''). But he's not just about fancy transforming tricks: like all Godmasters, he can manipulate [[Chōkon Power]], and can use it to block the special powers of other Godmasters.

The precise identity of the young man called Clouder remains something of a mystery. When he first appeared, Clouder had already discovered his Transtector, which itself had already adopted a [[alternate mode|vehicle mode]], although he had not yet donned the Master-Braces that would bond him to it. He was first seen watching a collection of video tapes made by the [[United States of America|United States]] [[United States Department of Defense|Department of Defense]] of previous Transformer battles, which he obtained through undivulged means. Whatever the case, after finishing this viewing, Clouder took his motorbike out to a cavern behind a waterfall in which he had hidden his Transtector, where he finally decided it was time to put on his Master-Braces. His geekishness getting the better of him, Clouder decided to adopt his Decepticon eagle form first, considering the evil robots to be "cooler". He tracked down the Decepticon [[Headmaster Junior]]s and presented himself to them, and was then brought to the villains' advance base on a South Pacific island. Clouder introduced himself as the final Godmaster, displayed his double-transformation powers, and was welcomed into the fold by the Decepticon leaders, [[Mega]] and [[Giga]]. The distrusting [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] was not so convinced, and staged a battle between Clouder and [[King Poseidon]], during which a passing cruise ship was damaged. Although Clouder did defeat King Poseidon, he was horrified at what he had done, but luckily for him and the ship's passengers, the attack had drawn the attention of the Autobots, who saved the ship and then engaged the Decepticons in battle. In the firefight which ensued, under Giga's orders, Clouder adopted his Autobot robot form and "saved" [[Minerva (Masterforce human)|Minerva]], joining up with the unwitting Autobots and infiltrating their base. {{storylink|Appearance!! Grateful to Clouder for the "rescue", Minerva showed him all around the Autobots' base, allowing him an opportunity to sneak off and access the base computer. Clouder crept out of the base in eagle mode a little later to hand off the information he had downloaded to the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors, but was spotted by [[Metalhawk (Masterforce)|Metalhawk]], though he did not recognise him in his Decepticon form. Clouder returned to the base for the second stage of his plan, planting a series of bombs that detonated almost immediately, distracting the Autobots long enough for Clouder to once again access the computer and obtain information on the base's layout. Unfortunately, when Clouder was preparing for his rendezvous with the Decepticon Juniors that evening, [[Cancer (Masterforce)|Cancer]] wound up accidentally activating the jamming waves that they were using to hide their presence early, tipping off the Autobots to their presence nearby. Clouder raced out to complete the exchange, but was caught in the act by Metalhawk, who overheard Clouder being referred to by name. With the identity of the traitor confirmed, Metalhawk attacked, and with the help of [[Lightfoot (Masterforce)|Lightfoot]] and [[Ranger]], soon had Clouder subdued. Although Clouder was imprisoned in the Autobot base, the Decepticon Juniors had managed to escape and give Clouder's information to [[Giga]] and [[Mega]], who used it to initiate an all-out attack on the Autobot headquarters. {{storylink|Secret Orders! Destroy the Autobot Base!!}} Although the Autobots were occupied holding off the Decepticon forces and fighting the fires their attack caused, Minerva did take the time to extinguish a blaze that had erupted in Clouder's cell, even though she didn't let him out. When the [[Seacon (Masterforce)|Seacons]] destroyed the base's power generation, the shackles holding Clouder were deactivated, but he was promptly buried under a mountain of rubble when [[Turtler]] caved in the base entrances, trapping everyone inside. Again, Minerva came to his rescue when the Autobots were finally forced to evacuate in [[Godbomber]], dragging him to safety just before the base exploded. Realizing that he had been abandoned and touched by the fact that the Autobots had saved him despite his misdeeds, Clouder realized the error of his ways, and requested permission from [[Ginrai (human)|Ginrai]] to join their side. Attempting to prove his worth, Clouder later approached [[Shūta Gō]], asking him to contact Ginrai so that he could reveal to him the location of the Decepticon base. Naturally skeptical, Shūta instead had Clouder take him there, intending to call Ginrai if the information proved accurate. Unfortunately, the Decepticons captured them both and locked them in a dungeon cell, with [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] berating Clouder for his betrayal. Clouder shot back that ''he'' was the one who had been betrayed, left behind to die by Turtler, Overlord apologized, but could not forgive Clouder's change of allegiance. Ginrai was soon alerted to the youngsters' plight and summoned to the Decepticon base, where, with help from Cancer, who followed Clouder's lead and also turned on the Decepticons, he succeeded in rescuing them. {{storylink|God Ginrai: Showdown at the Decepticon Base}}

With the information Cancer was able to provide them, the Autobots then initiated an all-out attack on the Decepticons' headquarters, during which the villains' emperor, [[Devil Z]], merged with [[Scorponok (G1)|BlackZarak]] and collapsed the base in an attempt to destroy the Autobots. Ginrai made use of the flight powers of Clouder's falcon form by asking him to bring him jet boosters from [[Grand Maximus]], but he never actually used them for anything. Instead, Ginrai had Clouder carry Lightfoot out of the crevasse they were trapped in, while he hauled the remaining Decepticon Headmaster Juniors, [[Wilder (Masterforce)|Wilder]] and [[Bullhorn (Masterforce)|Bullhorn]], who had been abandoned by Devil Z, to safety. {{storylink|The Ultimate Combination!! When the Decepticons relocated to the [[Grand Canyon]] for an attack on North America, Clouder, Cancer, Wilder and Bullhorn all joined with the Autobots in pursuing them. The four former Decepticons broke off into one of three teams, intending on tackling BlackZarak from behind, but as they were making their approach, they spotted Ranger and the Autobot Juniors battling [[King Poseidon]]. They were about to leap into action, but just as they were about to combine with their Transtectors, they were suddenly struck down by a bolt of Devil Z's [[Devil Power]]. The alien separated the boys from their Transtectors, stripping them of their Master-Braces and bringing the robot bodies to life as true super-robot lifeforms, which joined back up with the Decepticons. {{storylink|Autobots! Left powerless and unable to join in the final battle with the Decepticons on the Matterhorn directly, Clouder and the other three boys helped to rescue civilians and huddled in an underground shelter when Devil Z unleashed his destructive Devil Thunder across Europe. {{storylink|Malevolent and Inhuman! The True Form of Devil Z}} When the Devil Thunder bombardment was halted (thanks to Ginrai engaging BlackZarak in battle), Clouder used his ''mysteeeerious sources'' to supply the group with an armored buggy that would allow them to join in the fight. The boys unfortunately arrived too late to do anything, cresting the mountain just after God Ginrai destroyed Devil Z, causing all the other Transformers' Transtectors to come to life. In [[2021]], Clouder and the former human Decepticon Headmaster Juniors stowed away to [[G Nebula 89]] in search of new transtectors. However, [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] attacked the Autobots' transtector factory and [[Grand Maximus|Grand]] had them sent to the [[Legends World]] for their safety, giving them new Headmaster-Braces in the process. Clouder came to join the local [[Japan Self-Defense Forces]] and reach the rank of major. During [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]]'s return, he was put in charge of a squad of [[Tank Drone|Tankor Drone]]s and [[Black Convoy Mass Production Type Drone]]s prepared to defend [[Tokyo]] from the monster. {{storylink|LG43 Trypticon Mobilization Chapter: Decepticon Civil War|Decepticon Civil War}} Their firepower was inefficient, however, and Clouder ended up swallowed whole by Trypticon and used as a power source. Clouder later informed Ginrai and the Autobot Headmaster Juniors that they could get a cheap meal at the [[Chōkon Tower Chinese Restaurant]], which turned out to be a trap to force Ginrai into a duel with Giga and Mega. While Devil Z was distracted watching the battle, Clouder revealed that he was in fact loyal to Megatron after all and captured the entity using [[energon chains]]. Over a decade later, in 2035, Clouder, in his position as a major in the [[United States Department of Defense]], remained an ally of the Autobots as they developed the [[Power Core Combination]] process. When a series of Decepticon attacks resulted in the theft of a contingent of Power Core drones and left Autobot warrior [[Blaze Master|Choppermaster]] missing in action, Clouder dispatched [[Tread Bolt|Jetmaster]] to [[Dinobot Island (G1)|Dinobot Island]] to call [[Kakuryu (Victory)|Grimmaster]] to active duty. {{storylink|The Dragon Pays His Dues}}

Donning an interface exosuit, he once again took control of a sparkless Transformer body, this one developed as part of the Power Core Combination project to serve as a [[Eldedroid|spare body]] for [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] himself known as "Assaultmaster". As they launched their attack on the Decepticons' excavated case base in a mountainous region, Clouder scanned the area and discovered an [[Predacon (BW)|unfamiliar insignia]] on materials the villains had unearthed. He was attacked by [[Gravedigger|Buildmaster]] and gave a good account of himself, but when Assaultmaster's response time began to slow down, Grimmaster took up the fight. Clouder was freed up to investigate deeper inside the caves, but, detecting no sign of life, began to doubt that the High Regent even existed. It was at this point that the voice of the all-too-real Regent, [[Scrash (OC)|Scrash]], spoke directly into his mind, revealing that he intended to take control of Assaultmaster to serve as a body for himself. How Clouder found his Transtector or joined up with the Decepticons is a tale left untold; he made his debut on the battlefield when Overlord was raining destruction down on the world with the Decepticons' new weapon, the [[A.O. Laser]], from the top of [[Chomolungma]]. When Ginrai and Godbomber arrived to stop the villains, they were able to dodge a blast of the laser, but Clouder suddenly appeared behind them in eagle mode with a mirror that reflected the laser beam right back at them. The Decepticons celebrated as Ginrai was blinded by the blast and sent crashing to the mountain top, but things turned sour when Clouder asked what part of the world he could have when the Decepticons conquered it. Overlord offered him Mount Everest, and [[Cancer (Masterforce)|Cancer]] ripped on his [[beast mode]] by pointing out that it would be a good place that he could build a nest. Furious at both the insult and being cheated out of his piece of the pie, Clouder transformed into his Autobot [[robot mode]] and blew up the A.O. Laser in Overlord's hands. Ginrai was surprised as Clouder helped him up, but with the Headmaster Juniors able to serve as his eyes, he soon had Overlord beaten, and welcomed Clouder into the Autobot ranks. Following the display, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] alerted Highbrow's unit to a Decepticon force moving on Cybertron. They pursued [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]] and successfully retrieved his prize, the key to said foundry, but the Autobots' shuttle was then perniciously struck by plasma energy, sending it on a quite unseemly trek through space. The raucous venture eventually led to a crash landing on planet [[Nebulos]], and a tete-a-tete with the most impertinent group of locals. The technophobic cave-dwellers nearly blew the Autobots up until the arrival of the Decepticons cast Highbrow and his friends in a much finer light via contrast. Nevertheless, half of Highbrow's companions were abducted by the Decepticons in the melee that followed. In dire straits, the Autobots were forced to bow to Brainstorm's engineering mania and bond with their new Nebulan allies, creating Headmasters. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}}

Regrettably, Highbrow found himself in a seemingly inequitable partnership with [[Gort]], the Nebulans' uncouth plebeian of a leader. Still, the binary bonding process did provide an exceptional combat advantage for Highbrow, as Gort was now on hand to remind him of the tactical advantage of a good right cross. The Autobot Headmasters rescued their friends, and began prepping their ship for repairs. Unfortunately, the Decepticons weren't above stealing a good idea, and formed a Headmaster partnership of their own with a local syndicate, the [[Hive (G1)|Hive]]. Upon the fortuitous arrival of Optimus Prime on Nebulos, Highbrow and his comrades returned to Cybertron with alacrity to foil Galvatron's plot. The Headmasters were sent to [[Praum]] to investigate reports of a Decepticon attack. On arrival, they found the base had been devastated and the occupants apparently destroyed. When Highbrow attempted to egress through the top of the building in his helicopter mode and it shut on him, they discovered they'd fallen into Scorponok's trap and they were soon being buried in sand. The five Headmasters remembered their struggles back on Master and swapped Transtectors in order to escape. The Headmasters continued to train with Highbrow utilizing a rowing machine. When Decepticons were reported to be heading for Earth, he opted to remain on Athenia, and later traveled to Cybertron with Fortress when the Decepticons mounted an all-out attack on the planet. {{storylink|Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1}} When the Decepticon Headmasters split mid-battle, the Autobots started hunting for them. Eventually they discovered the Decepticons were heading for Vector Sigma and gave pursuit. During the launch of the [[Sol 1]] satellite, the Headmasters defended [[Sol System Center|the launch pad]]. Highbrow and Hardhead briefly ganged up on Cyclonus. They succeeded in launching the satellite, but when the Decepticons made another play for it, Sixshot kept the Autobot Headmasters busy. The Headmasters found the satellite near [[Zarak (planet)|Zarak]], but were forced to destroy it to keep it out of Decepticon hands. {{storylink|The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok}} The Headmasters went to Earth to assist when a Peruvian volcano erupted and ended up fighting [[Predaking]] and the Decepticon Headmasters. Fortunately they were able to save the inhabitants of the village of [[Pan]]. {{storylink|The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts}} When they attacked a [[buridanka]] plant on Earth, Highbrow heroically attacked the plant by jumping into one of its mouths. When reports came in of the Decepticons being up to something on [[Mars (planet)|Mars]], Brainstorm and the other Headmasters traveled there in [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]]. After tangling with [[Predaking]] they rescued Daniel and found out that the Decepticons were planning to blow the entire planet up. Interrogating the Decepticons led them to a crater which naturally turned out to be a trap. {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger}} Both Brainstorm and Highbrow were injured enough that they had to undergo extensive repairs. They finally returned to the fight to save Mars in time to witness MegaZarak's arrival, and were subsequently defeated by the giant. As Mars exploded, the four Headmasters joined Fortress aboard Maximus, and they were able to escape the planet thanks to the explosions recharging Maximus's power. {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! Highbrow didn't think the Decepticons would blow up any more planets, given how dangerous it would be to do so, and Chromedome called him naive. He and the other Headmasters patrolled space near Chaar and came under attack from MegaZarak, but escaped thanks to another appearance by a mystery UFO. It wasn't until the Autobots gatecrashed Scorponok's coronation ceremony that the UFO was revealed to be the returned Galvatron, and they had to retreat. {{storylink|Return of the Immortal Emperor}} After an SOS was received from [[Sandra (planet)|Sandra]], the Headmasters prepared to take a shipment of energy to that world. The Decepticons set out to stop them, but Brainstorm and Highbrow kept them busy while Chromedome and Hardhead sneaked ahead with the energy. As part of [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike]]'s plan to negotiate with the Decepticon, the four Headmasters accompanied him to [[Shangri-La Island]] on Earth as an escort. When the Galvatron who met with Spike turned out to be an impostor, Brainstorm and the others rescued Carly and Daniel before attacking the Decepticons. During the escape, Sixshot destroyed the [[space bridge]] network, and the Autobots set out in pursuit in Battleship Maximus. {{storylink|Daniel Faces His Biggest Crisis Ever!!}} When the Decepticons invaded [[Hive (planet)|Hive]], the Autobots attempted to go help, but were stopped by the Hive ships which opened fire on Maximus. As Maximus neared the [[Twin Star]] system, Brainstorm got the other riled up by claiming battle was about brain over brawn. As Daniel left to sit the battle out on Toruin, Highbrow reassured him that the other Headmasters would sort out their differences eventually. The Headmasters, minus Brainstorm who'd also gone to Toruin, fought at length with the Decepticons on Spherity until Brainstorm arrived with the news that the inhabitants and all their energy had vacated to a secret base on Toruin, and the Headmasters decided to simply leave the Decepticons to the empty planet. {{storylink|Battle for Defense of the False Planet}}

Highbrow created ''[[Video Challenger]]'' which Daniel used as a game. After Highbrow detected an SOS, the Headmasters went to planet [[Daros]], only to find the Decepticons had been shooting the local population. Chromedome and Highbrow found [[Tekna]], a Beastformer who had been involved in the construction of Scorponok's transtector. Highbrow took him back to Maximus where, before he died, Tekna passed on a microfilm. Progress was slow, and when the Decepticons were tracked to [[Paradise]], Highbrow went down to the planet to see if he could find some clues. He befriended a young native girl, [[Papika]], who pointed him to where the Decepticons had landed, however when he reached the site, the three Decepticon Headmasters captured him. He was chained up under a waterfall and remained there until the other Headmasters and Papika came and rescued him. {{storylink|Head Formation of Friendship}}

When the Headmasters paid a visit to the [[Pirate Planet]], Highbrow used his analytically skills to uncover a hidden pyramid. While the Decepticons tried to gain entry though brute force, Highbrow worked out that the key to the pyramid was a skull mounted on the prow of a [[Space Pirate Ship|derelict ship]] in the [[Space Graveyard]] near the planet. He, Daniel and the Trainbots retrieved the skull and opened the pyramid, but the energy it had contained was already gone. {{storylink|Mystery of the Space Pirate Ship}} The Headmasters returned to Athenia, where Highbrow continued to try and decipher the blueprints with little success. With Earth largely abandoned by the Decepticons, the Autobot Headmasters set about finding the bombs they'd planted. Brainstorm and Highbrow retrieved a bomb from a mine and returned it to Battleship Maximus. After Wheelie was kidnapped by the Decepticons, Highbrow gave Chromedome and Daniel advice before the pair rushed off to save their friend. Fortress was prepared to turn over the Master Sword information to Sixshot, but when Wheelie was successfully rescued, Highbrow and the other Autobots were unsuccessful in preventing the Decepticons from getting the information anyway. {{storylink|The Master Sword Is in Danger!!}} The Headmasters worked on tracking the unique energy signature that would betray the location of the Decepticons' work. Highbrow even built a portable energy detector that led them to the cavern where Scorponok was creating the [[Zarak Shield]], but they were too late to prevent its completion. {{storylink|The Zarak Shield Turns the Tide}} Highbrow thought Chromedome's plan to rally the residents of Master against the Decepticons was risky, but went along with it anyway. The Headmasters traced Daniel to planet [[Daira]] after he became separated from the ship, and were surprised to find he'd been looked after by Sixshot. {{storylink|My Friend Sixshot!}} When Sixshot challenged Chromedome to a duel, the other Headmasters tried and failed to talk their friend out of accepting. The Autobots hurried back to Earth, where the Decepticons were busy erecting [[Death Tower]]s. When they learned that Spike and Carly's plane had crashed in the [[Andes Mountains|Andes]], the four Headmasters went there with Daniel and Wheelie to rescue them. {{storylink|The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 1)}} On their way to [[Egypt]] to deal with another Death Tower, the four Headmasters had to contend with Mindwipe, Skullcruncher and Weirdwolf, though the trio didn't present much of a threat in the end. After failing to stop the Death Tower from rising, the Autobots' entire army went to the [[Arctic|North Pole]] where they faced the Decepticons in a final battle to save Earth. As Fortress Maximus was caught in the energies preparing to tear the planet apart, Highbrow and the other three Headmasters attempted a Head Formation to give him more power. It was only when the other Autobots joined in that they succeeded, and the Decepticons' satellite was destroyed. == Overview ==
[[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] had recently come to [[Earth]] to put down insubordination of the infiltration team there led by [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]]. After crippling Starscream and bringing the rest of the team in line {{storylink|Infiltration}}, Megatron reestablished [[infiltration protocol]] and initiated phase two. {{storylink|Escalation issue 1}} Phase two involves the destabilization of global politics with the goal of having national powers fight each other to reduce their ability to resist in later stages. Megatron's first course of action is to establish a base in the Eastern European country of [[Latveria]] and attack the neighboring country of [[Symkaria]] knowing the Symkarians would blame the Latverians and likely start a war over the matter. He also stole the [[Psycho-Prism]] from [[Doctor Doom]] which has the effect of increasing hostile tendencies of nearby humans, which would further escalate tensions.

== Creative team ==
The title was written by [[Stuart Moore]] and illustrated by [[Tyler Kirkham]]. Moore would later write the [[Spotlight: Ramjet|''Spotlight'' issue for Ramjet]], who made his IDW debut in this series.

==Notes==
*The best place to locate this series in the [[IDW Generation 1 continuity]] is during the latter part of [[Escalation issue 1]], after Megatron is last seen in his Cybertronian tank form (he is in gun form in this series). Megatron had gathered his troops together at that point to secure his leadership and oversee the reestablishment [[infiltration protocol]]. [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] and [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]] were off driving [[Hunter O'Nion]], [[Verity Carlo]], and [[Jimmy Pink]] home at that part of the story which would account for their absence in this series. [[Spotlight: Ramjet]], which takes place after this series, begins during [[Escalation issue 2]].
*In the Marvel comics continuity, the events happen sometime before the ''Civil War'' storyline. However, and we might be veering dangerously off-topic if we were to point this out, but it should probably be noted that despite appearances, this story ''isn't'' congruent with the mainstream Marvel Comics universe ("Earth-616"), even beyond the fact that Transformers are present. At the time this story is intended to take place (between the first two story-arcs of ''New Avengers'', circa mid-2005), [[Doctor Doom]] is supposed to be dead, and [[Ms. Marvel|Carol Danvers]] was not wearing the costume or going by the codename used in the series. After the Autobots re-awoke on modern-day Earth, Brawn was one of five Autobots sent out to reconnoiter their new world. When their patrol came under attack from a squadron of Decepticons, Brawn advised the others to stay behind him, as he could absorb the incoming jets' firepower. With one swing of his powerful fist, he clocked [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]]. However, the Autobots were forced to withdraw, though Brawn wondered where [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] had disappeared. {{storylink|The Transformers (issue)|The Transformers}} Bumblebee, damaged, had snuck off to [[S. Witwicky Auto Repairs]], and after he disclosed his location, the Autobots traveled to meet him there. But the Decepticons had their eye on [[Sparkplug Witwicky]], the [[human]] owner of the repair shop, and the Autobots met them there in battle. Unfortunately, the little punk had a brother. [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]]'s high-frequency sonic attack knocked Brawn out. When Brawn recovered, the body of [[Gears (G1)|Gears]] lay crumpled at his feet, having helped to rescue Sparkplug, but at great risk to his own life. Having regained their full strength with Sparkplug Witwicky's assistance, the Decepticons staged a final attack on the Autobots. The Autobots, meanwhile, were still very weak, so Brawn was among the Autobots who donated fuel to re-energize five chosen Autobot warriors, in preparation for their last stand against the Decepticons. Brawn was part of a team led by [[Hot Spot (G1)|Hot Spot]], and including [[Skydive (G1 Aerialbot)|Skydive]], [[Steeljaw (G1)|Steeljaw]], [[Override (G1)|Override]], and [[Chase (G1)|Chase]], sent to answer the distress call sent out by their [[human]] allies [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. Joe]]. They arrived in [[Milleville]], just in time to save [[Scarlett]] from a recently revived and [[Cobra]]-upgraded [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]].

Brawn and the other Autobots quickly learned that Megatron's strength and weaponry had been vastly improved. First Steeljaw fell, then Chase. Finally, it fell to Brawn to keep Megatron from reaching the [[Ark (G1)|Autobots' ship]]. Though Brawn fought Megatron bravely, he was vaporized when Megatron revealed that he could implode neutrons. He was frequently involved in combat engagements against the Decepticons in the early years of the Earth-based war, including the battle that saw the Decepticons destroy an offshore oil rig. {{storylink|More than Meets the Eye, Part 1}} In the flaming chaos that followed, Brawn helped save his fellow Autobot [[Huffer (G1)|Huffer]] who was trapped in the wreckage by cutting him loose with a blowtorch contained in his right arm. Brawn, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]], [[Bluestreak]] and [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] arrived at the power generator where [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]] and [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] were attacking. Hotheaded Cliffjumper charged at Thundercracker, only to be smashed backwards by a steel pillar. Cliffjumper crashed directly into Brawn's stomach, but Brawn was completely unharmed thanks to his thick hide. Starscream wanted to smash them in, but Optimus criticized this decision, telling him to "pick on somebody his own size". Later, he came with the Autobots to [[Doctor Alcazar|Dr. Alcazar]]'s lab, but he didn't do much of anything. Brawn retreated to home base with the other Autobots, and the Decepticons attacked the next morning. Brawn somehow completely missed the fact that [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]] had hitched a ride on his shoulder, allowing the Decepticon to infiltrate the base and inflict even more damage on Prime. He later helped defend Headquarters against a Decepticon attack, while a team retrieved a replacement [[Cosmotron]] for Prime. {{storylink|Divide and Conquer}} Brawn was among the Autobots who discovered a cave full of dinosaur fossils in the volcano in which Headquarters was embedded, and subsequently took part in the building of robotic versions of the dinosaurs. At the grand unveiling, the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]]s ran wild, and Brawn and [[Bluestreak]] were bashed aside by [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]]'s tail. Another important mission for Brawn involved a super-weapon being built in [[Peru]], where it was he (and his ally [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]]) who first discovered the Decepticons' plot and informed the other Autobots. He and Windcharger utilized [[Jetfire (G1)|Skyfire's]] transport capabilities and found that the Decepticons were, indeed, in Peru. After flying Soundwave into the side of a cliff, Brawn survived a direct hit from Megatron's [[fusion cannon]] and played dodge the Decepticon until Skyfire picked him and Windcharger up again. Having picked up the rest of the Autobots, they returned to the mining town near the ancient pyramid that the Decepticons were using as a firing platform. During the ensuing battle, Brawn got his hands on Megatron's fusion cannon, returning the earlier favor by blasting Megatron in the chest with it. After defending the town against a rock slide, the Autobots attacked the pyramid itself. When two more Dinobots were to be constructed, Brawn again took part. {{storylink|War of the Dinobots}} After Sparkplug was kidnapped by the Decepticons, Brawn led a small team, using his drill to burrow under the Decepticon base so they could successfully rescue Spike's father. Unfortunately Sparkplug was under the influence of [[Doctor Arkeville]]'s [[hypno-chip]] and sabotaged the Autobot defences, allowing the Decepticons to attack. Brawn was stuck with the cleanup in the aftermath. {{storylink|The Ultimate Doom, Part 1}} Later, the Decepticons succeeded in using a massive space bridge to bring Cybertron into Earth's orbit. Unsuccessful at foiling their plan, Brawn and the Autobots returned to base. News that Sparkplug had been taken to Cybertron led to Brawn volunteering for the mission to his home world in Skyfire. Spike and Bumblebee accidentally triggered a trapdoor, and Brawn gamely jumped in after them. During the post-Cybertron clean up, Brawn and Gears were repairing a building together when Huffer started yelling at them. After the Decepticons were detected enroute somewhere, Brawn and the other Autobots began tailing them. Brawn was forced to dig Bumblebee out when Megatron blasted some rocks down on them. After a brief stop in some quicksand, the Autobots caught up with their quarry at Arkeville's secret laboratory. {{storylink|Countdown to Extinction (episode)|Countdown to Extinction}} Brawn, Windcharger, Bumblebee, Spike and Skyfire went to [[Bali]] to investigate reports of giant robot insects, only to encounter the [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticon]]s. Brawn was unimpressed with this new foe, and when they created an army of clones, theorized that the army was just a holographic illusion. He recanted his theory moments later after being blasted on his tailpipe. Luckily the rest of the Autobots arrived before the situation could get too out of control. During the pursuit of the Decepticons, Brawn asked Optimus to toss him into the air, so he could administer a good old-fashioned beating to [[Shrapnel (G1)|Shrapnel]]. His ride on the Insecticon lasted a few moments, as he was kicked off by [[Kickback (G1)|Kickback]], and only saved from smashing into the ground by Skyfire. Brawn and all the other Autobots turned out to watch the Optimus/Megatron bout to decide which faction could stay on Earth. Megatron, unfortunately, won, but the Autobots soon discovered that he had cheated, and sent the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicon]]s to disable [[Teletraan I (G1)|Teletraan I]] to hide it, nullifying the outcome. {{storylink|Heavy Metal War}} During a battle at a rocket base, Brawn kicked Soundwave in the backside so hard that the Decepticon flew into the side of a rocket, causing a chain reaction that devastated the base. Great going! During the same battle, Spike was injured, and the Autobots downloaded his mind into [[Autobot X]] while his body was operated on. He became unstable and fled the base, leading Brawn and the other Autobot to follow him so they could stop him falling under Megatron's influence. {{storylink|Autobot Spike}}

Brawn took part in a mission to come to the aid of some gold miners, but it was an ambush — Megatron energised some boulders, disposing of the Autobots long enough to kidnap Gears. {{storylink|Changing Gears}} Brawn defended Headquarters against yet another Decepticon attack, only for Soundwave to retreat before Brawn could present him with a "nickel knuckle sandwich". The attack had been a diversion while Megatron sabotaged the Autobot [[recharging chamber]]s, and Brawn and the other Autobots were rendered evil by the planted [[personality destabilizer device]]. Brawn went to the nearest airforce base and began merrily destroying jets, until [[Hound (G1)|Hound]] restored his goodness with an [[attitude exchanger]]. {{storylink|Attack of the Autobots}}

Brawn came to see the proper testing of [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]]'s [[Wheeljack Instant Immobilizer|latest invention]]. When it stopped the water in a river from flowing, Brawn claimed that the now-solid water wouldn't be immune to his hydraulic knuckles. He took it back soon after. Later, when the Decepticons took the Immobilizer and began using it to stop Autobots in their tracks, Brawn helped tunnel underground for [[Carly]] so she could get to the Immobilizer and reroute it. {{storylink|The Immobilizer}} While most of the Autobots participated in a charity event, Brawn stayed at Headquarters with Huffer, which he probably regretted. When Bumblebee reported that the Autobots had been zapped with the [[Transfixatron]] and captured by the Decepticons, Huffer's complaining resulted in Brawn physically picking up his companion and telling him to shut up. [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] and Wheeljack were able to rig up a cure, and the four Autobots, plus Spike and [[Chip Chase]], rescued the rest of the team. {{storylink|The Autobot Run}}

He, along with [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]], [[Hound (G1)|Hound]] and Wheeljack, volunteered to check out an energy flare in the Atlantic. Upon discovering the underwater city of [[Sub-Atlantica]], the squad was ambushed by the Decepticons' new ally [[Nergill]]. They were overwhelmed by Decepticon forces and had to escape, with Wheeljack being captured by their enemies. Optimus Prime took the Autobots, Brawn included, to Washington D.C., where the Decepticons were headed. Brawn held Thundercracker in place with his lasso, allowing Optimus to fire at him. However, Nergill arrived and turned the tables by using a disruptor to hold Brawn and the other Autobots in place. Bumblebee and Spike rescued Wheeljack, who called the Dinobots for reinforcements. Grimlock snapped Nergill's disruptor in half, freeing Brawn and the others. Following that, Brawn came with his comrades to sink Nergill's city once again, shooting a few blasts at the city while hiding behind some rubble. When Sub-Atlantica began sinking, Optimus Prime ordered his team to evacuate. {{storylink|Atlantis, Arise!}} Brawn assisted in defending [[Nightbird (G1)|a primitive Earth robot]] at [[Doctor Fujiyama the Famous Scientist|Dr. Fujiyama]]'s request. The fall had such a toll on Brawn, he couldn't transform. Brawn was present at Headquarters when the Dinobots went on another of those rampages. He jumped out of the way as [[Red Alert (G1)|Red Alert]] and [[Inferno (G1)|Inferno]] sped past to deal with a fire. {{storylink|Dinobot Island, Part 1}} After [[Grapple]] and [[Hoist (G1)|Hoist]] fell in with the wrong crowd so they could build their [[Solar Power Tower]], Brawn and the rest of the Autobots went to investigate and ended up facing Devastator. The day won, the Autobots searched through the rubble of the tower. Brawn unearthed Grapple's scale model of the tower, and then Grapple and Hoist themselves, welded into a sheet of metal. {{storylink|The Master Builders}}

When a [[Nemesis (G1)|Decepticon starship]] was uncovered in an archaeological dig (and Megatron subsequently retrieved the awesome power of the [[Heart of Cybertron]]), Brawn was angered that fellow Autobot [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] did not participate in battles, not understanding that Perceptor's scientific and technical skills necessitated his exclusion from combat missions. To the irritation of [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] and [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]], Brawn decided it was his job to bully the Autobot scientist, insinuating that Perceptor was a coward not prepared to do his duty alongside the other Autobots.

As Megatron prepared to attack the Autobot base, Perceptor came up with a plan. He, Brawn and Bumblebee were shrunk to microscopic size and infiltrated Megatron's body. Though Brawn was keen to do as much damage as possible while they were in there, he discovered that Perceptor's more intellectual approach was much more effective in getting their mission completed. Perceptor's bravery in disconnecting the Heart while under fire caused Brawn to change his earlier tune. Once they escaped Megatron, Brawn threw the Heart of Cybertron into the sky, where Perceptor blasted it. The ordeal over, Brawn declared Perceptor a hero, though it is uncertain whether he was big enough to apologize to Perceptor for his earlier boorish behavior. {{storylink|Microbots}}

Brawn took part in the [[Autobot Day]] parade, during which footage was screened incriminating the Autobots in energy theft. Steeljaw and the Mini-Cassettes journeyed to the Arctic with Blaster to help [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] in the search for the [[Matrix of Leadership]]. They confronted the [[Predacon (G1)|Predacon]]s and Steeljaw battled the tiger, [[Rampage (G1)|Rampage]]. Tragedy struck when Blaster was killed in battle with his arch-foe, [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]]. Steeljaw tried to recover whatever remnants of his friend that he could. {{storylink|The Mystery of Planet Master}} Steeljaw and the Cassettes mourned the loss of their friend so greatly that they couldn't even go on missions. Eventually, Rodimus Prime had Blaster rebuilt using [[Master (planet)|Master]] technology as [[Twincast]]. Reunited, Steeljaw and Twincast infiltrated [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] and the planet [[Chaar]] to stop Galvatron's [[Madmachine]] from being used against the Autobots. {{storylink|The Great Cassette Operation}} Later, in a form of stealth mission usually reserved for ''Decepticon'' Cassettes, Ramhorn and Steeljaw somehow managed to reach Chaar on their own and spy on [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]], learning all about his plans for [[plasma energy]]. {{storylink|The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts}}

After the Decepticons abandoned the solar system to seek out more energy, Twincast, Steeljaw and the Mini-Cassettes joined Fortress' crew in hunting them down. On [[Paradise]], Steeljaw was dispatched on a scouting mission, and learned [[Highbrow (G1)|Highbrow]] had been kidnapped by the Decepticons. Back on Earth, Steeljaw and the Mini-Cassettes ejected to help Twincast gather information on the recent upsurge of Decepticon activity. Steeljaw and Twincast went to investigate a non-responsive outpost in Alaska, only to discover Scorponok had eliminated all the Autobots stationed there. They were spotted by [[Sixshot]], and Twincast commanded Steeljaw to flee back to Autobot City with their report. Steeljaw remained behind, hidden by a rocky outcrop, long enough to see his commander shot down by the Ninja Commander, and vowed to return with help. True to his silent vow, Steeljaw, eventually came back with [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] and Metroplex. When she listened to it, she discovered that it was in fact entirely full of depressing songs.
It was also apparently Steeljaw, who became her companion in her next adventure, when she visited the ''[[Generation 2 (franchise)|Generation 2]]'' timeline and encountered the [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]] of that era. Steeljaw commented that the Autobot smelled "like a warrior I know" and asked if he was the same person in a new body.

Steeljaw accompanied and protected Teletraan 15 on her journey as she filled his recording space with data on the Transformers whom she had been sent to study. The observing [[Teletraan 10]], on the other hand, was more than perturbed by Steeljaw's fondness for the smell of young women, and threatened to reveal publicly his tendency to rust. When the pair returned to the artificial satellite [[Nana]], Teletraan 15 was suddenly possessed by the disembodied spirit of [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]]... and Steeljaw was not seen in her company again.

The story of the Overlord begins with the mysterious alien energy-being and self-styled [[Decepticon]] god, [[Devil Z]], who schemed to create the ultimate lifeform by merging Transformers and humans into one. Devil Z stole a collection of Transformer [[Transtector]]s from the [[G Nebula 89|G Nebula]] and brought them to Earth, where he recruited two human beings, husband and wife [[Giga]] and [[Mega]], and charged them with creating an army for him. Mega and Giga were both bonded to the largest Transtector, and together, they became the terrifying Overlord, serving as Devil Z's "Ambassador of Destruction" on Earth.

In this continuity, each of Overlord's two components are piloted by Giga and Mega, and are hence known as the '''Gigatank''' and the '''Megajet'''. As deadly as his "Chōkon Daemon Blast" lasers and "Chōkon Bolt Masher" grenade launcher are, Overlord has little need for projectile weapons: as a [[Godmaster]], he is capable of manipulating [[Chōkon Power]], and can even employ it to inhibit the regenerative abilities of other Godmasters.

Giga and Mega took their Transtectors into battle for the first time after a string of failures that resulted in several of the Godmaster Transtectors falling into the hands of the [[Autobot]]s. The couple had [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] and [[Buster (Masterforce)|Buster]] lure Autobot commander [[Ginrai]] into the desert, and then confronted him as Overlord, immediately proving their superiority by beating him to near-death. {{storylink|Super Ginrai Gets Blown Away in the Desert!?}} Believing Ginrai dealt with, Overlord subsequently departed into space, taking control of a weather-monitoring base on the [[Moon (moon)|moon]] in order to rendezvous with the approaching [[Scorponok (G1)|BlackZarak]] there. The Autobot pair managed to drive BlackZarak back to the moon as well, and the dark Decepticon insisted that Overlord return to Earth alone and inform Devil Z of the situation. Overlord refused, furious that anyone other than Devil Z would presume to give him orders, but when Ginrai and Grand returned to press their attack, he realised the damage he had sustained prevented him from carrying on the fight, and he relented. Incensed by this failure, Giga decided to reduce Ginrai's power level by destroying Godbomber. A desert again served as Ginrai and Overlord's battleground, as Overlord used his Chōkon Power to create a massive whirling tornado out of the shifting sands, but when he was thrown off balance by a sneaky God Punch attack, Overlord's "Chōkon Tornado" quickly backfired on him and sent him spinning off wildly through the sky. {{storylink|Overlord - Terror of the Chōkon Tornado}} Despite this setback, Overlord made another attempt to eliminate Godbomber, this time by separating him from Ginrai with an ambush in the American heartland. In their separate Transtectors, Giga and Mega wore down Ginrai until he no longer had enough Chōkon Power to animate Godbomber, but the plan was foiled when the Autobot [[Headmaster Junior|Headmaster Juniors]] discovered they could combine their own energy to control Godbomber themselves. Overlord later adopted his base mode for the first time to act as a staging ground for the search for the final Godmaster. The search came to an abruptly end, however, when the Godmaster himself, [[Clouder]], sought out the Decepticons, and the villains decided to use his ability to adopt two robot forms to install him as a double agent within the Autobot ranks. {{storylink|Appearance!! The Final Godmaster}} Using information fed to them by Clouder, the Decepticons initiated a full-scale attack on the Autobots' headquarters, again using Overlord's base mode as a mobile headquarters from which the assault was masterminded. {{storylink|Secret Orders! Destroy the Autobot Base!!}} When Ginrai (who had been lured away from the base so the attack to begin) returned to aid his fellow Autobots, Overlord transformed to robot mode and again engaged him in battle, intending to keep him occupied until a [[Seacon (Masterforce)|Seacon]] force could destroy the Autobot base from within. Although defeated in combat, Overlord was still able to gloat, as Ginrai failed to realise that he was being stalled until it was too late. Furious at his own short-sightedness, Ginrai hurled Overlord and embedded him, head-first, in the side of the mountain housing the Autobot base. Soon thereafter, BlackZarak returned to Earth, and the Decepticons began "Operation M-1" to cut a swathe of devastation across the Earth. While BlackZarak tore through [[New York City|New York]], Overlord landed in the heart of [[Paris]], decimating military resistance and destroying the Arc de Triomphe. With these cities in ruins, the two Decepticons began to converge on Tokyo; while passing over China, Overlord landed on the Great Wall and broadcasted a message to the leaders of the world, warning them to surrender or witness Tokyo's destruction. Overlord then carried on his way, easily defeating [[Metalhawk]], [[Phoenix]] and [[Diver (Masterforce)|Diver]] when they attempted to block his path. Overlord and BlackZarak soon arrived in Tokyo, and with no surrender forthcoming, began razing the city. In the midst of the chaos, however, Ginrai and Grand Maximus—who had been trapped in a black hole by BlackZarak, and only just managed to escape—arrived to stop their evil deeds. During the ensuing battle, Ginrai manoeuvred himself between the two Decepticons, and dodged at the last second, causing them to blast each other. After a battle with [[Lightfoot]] in southern Europe, {{storylink|God Ginrai - Save Cancer!?}} Overlord tried a more underhanded tactic, capturing Autobot Headmaster Junior [[Shūta Gō]], and using him as a bargaining chip to bring Ginrai to the Decepticon base. The battle that followed was distinctly one-sided, as Ginrai was unable to fight back due to Shūta being in danger, but this suddenly took an unexpected turn when Decepticon Junior [[Cancer]] turned on his teammates and freed Shūta. Even as the shocked Overlord commanded him to stop, Ginrai got back in the fight, and flattened Overlord before escaping with Shūta and Cancer. {{storylink|God Ginrai: Showdown at the Decepticon Base}} With the information Cancer provided them, the Autobots were able to stage an all-out attack on the Decepticon base, during which Overlord again battled Ginrai. For a time, Devil Z's hatred of humankind had been steadily growing, and rankled with Giga and Mega, reaching a head when the alien abandoned [[Wilder]] and [[Bullhorn]] in the ruins of the Decepticon base, and transformed Hydra and Buster into true robots. {{storylink|Battle to the Death!! God Ginrai VS Darkwings Reborn}} Confronting God Ginrai for one final time in the heart of the [[Grand Canyon]], Overlord vowed to fight him without weapons, battling him only through the use of his physical strength and the power of his human flesh. He didn't explain his motives to Ginrai, but Ginrai observed Overlord's refusal to draw his weapons, and fought honourably. When Grand Maximus arrived on the scene, however, he was not so concerned, and simply shot Overlord out of the sky. {{storylink|Autobots! Desperate Attack!!}}

After the battle in the Grand Canyon, the Decepticons relocated to the Alps, and the Autobots again gave chase. Overlord was willing to engage the Autobot Godmasters, but the merged Devil Z/BlackZarak entity held him back and instead buried them under an avalanche. Meanwhile, Ginrai again defeated Hydra and Buster, and the two brothers limped back to the peak of the Matterhorn, where Devil Z turned on them for their failure. As their punishment continued, Overlord at last stood up to his emperor and attempted to stop him, only to be on the receiving end of the emperor's wrath. {{storylink|Malevolent and Inhuman! The True Form of Devil Z}} Unexpectedly, Overlord was rescued by Ginrai, and as the Autobot leader began his final battle with BlackZarak, Giga and Mega realized that they owed him a debt of honor for saving them and finally made the decision to turn against their former master. When Overlord attempted to aid God Ginrai in BlackZarak, however, they were struck down and enveloped in a sphere of Devil Z's [[Devil Power]]. Devil Z separated Mega and Giga from their Transtectors, bringing Overlord to live as a true super-robot lifeform. As their [[Master-Brace]]s vanished from their wrists, Giga and Mega died, regretting that they could not settle their rivalry with Ginrai honourably. Alas, there was not even time to mourn, as the new, robotic Overlord lunged for Ginrai, but was tackled by Grand Maximus. Ginrai subsequently united his powers with the Headmasters Juniors to finally destroy Devil Z and BlackZarak, and at the sight of his leader being vaporized, Overlord immediately called for the Decepticons to retreat. Years later, when the supernatural creature known as [[Violen Jiger]] seized command of the Decepticons, his first act was to recruit nine "[[Nine Great Demon Generals|Demon Generals]]" from Decepticon history. Overlord was selected to be one of those Generals and was given new power and weaponry to make him an even greater threat than before. At Violen Jiger's instruction, Overlord was sent to the planet [[Feminia]] to wreak havoc along with [[Abominus (G1)|Abominus]] and [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]]. Together, the three Decepticon Demon Generals destroyed the entire planet and nearly killed Autobot [[Supreme Commander]] [[Star Saber (G1)|Victory Saber]] in the process.

Two-and-a-half months later, Overlord led Menasor, Abominus and [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]] in an attack on the planet of [[Micro|Zone]], gleefully blasting [[Micromaster]]s and using his trident to slice into [[Zone Base]] to retrieve a sample of [[Energon Z]] for Decepticon use. When Ginrai and Godbomber arrived to stop him, Overlord turned the laser on them; they dodged, but they had failed to observe the presence of the Decepticons' newest member, the Godmaster Clouder, who reflected the laser beam back at them and knocked them out of the sky. Unfortunately for Overlord, a chance comment from Cancer insulting Clouder's falcon mode plunged the Godmaster into such a rage that he turned on his Decepticon allies and blew up the AO Laser in Overlord's hands. Although Ginrai had been temporarily blinded by the AO Laser, the Headmaster Juniors were able to serve as his eyes and point him in the right direction to unleash his "God Punch" attack, which clobbered Overlord so hard that Giga and Mega actually popped out of his chest. {{storylink|Decepticons' Great Counterattack!}}

Soon thereafter, when the Autobots were off-Earth visiting their space-based allies, BlackZarak was able to return to Earth, and he and Overlord took the opportunity to attack a city. The Autobots soon returned with, and Ginrai and Godbomber grappled with Overlord, forcing him to separate back into the Megajet and Gigatank. The two Autobots clung onto the separate Transtectors, however, refusing to let them escape, as they waited for the new weapon they had brought back from space, the [[VX Bomb]] to detonate. The explosion came seconds later, knocking Mega and Giga's Transtectors offline, but Ginrai and Godbomber survived by combining into God Ginrai. {{storylink|Live? Die?! When BlackZarak attacked a city, Cancer happened to be here, and BlackZarak showed his disdain for humans by using the boy as a bargaining chip to prevent the Autobots from interfering with his deviltry. Horrified at this treatment of Cancer, Overlord viciously attacked BlackZarak, rescuing Cancer from his grip, but while they were fighting, it allowed the Autobots to take down both of them. {{storylink|Great Turn-Around! In light of this act of treachery by Overlord, it was perhaps not surprising that in the midst of his next battle with Ginrai, Overlord himself was the subject of a betrayal. In an attempt to transform himself into the ultimate lifeform, Devil Z fused with BlackZarak, and then turned on Overlord and the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors, attempting to drain theirs and Ginrai's [[Chōkon Power|Jinchōkon]] and take it for his own. They were saved by the Autobot Pretenders, who blocked the Jinchōkon-absorbing beam, and Overlord decided to join with the Autobots in defeating Devil Z. Overlord joined with all the other Transformers in combining their energies into the "Perfect Transform Attack", which finally destroyed BlackZarak and Devil Z once and for all. With the alien's death, the Transformers' Transtectors were brought to life as true super-robot lifeforms, Overlord's included. Alas, Devil Z's energies had also been sustaining the lives of Giga and Mega, and his death also resulted in theirs.
