Clipper is an Autobot Micromaster from the Victory portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Clipper (クリッパー Kurippā) hails from Planet Micro, home of the Micromasters. Ostensibly the "girlfriend" of Holi, she's a serious-minded and sometimes bossy young bot often frustrated by the doofiness of her male associates, whom she's smarter than to boot.

Clipper was stationed on planet Micro, where she worked for the government under Branch Chief Raikuru. When Holi and the rest of the Rescue Patrol Team arrived on the planet as part of a mission, she blew off Holi's offer of a rendezvous in the training room, due to short notice. She later had tea with Star Saber, the Rescue Team and Jan, complimenting the Supreme Commander on his dashing personality, and telling Holi he should aim to be as stylish. When the Autobots were alerted to a Decepticon attack, she told Holi to be careful, touching his hand and turning his face beet red.

Following the inevitable Decepticon defeat, she told Holi she was looking forward to hearing all about Earth from him at a later time, provoking another blush, to the merriment of the other Autobots. Planet Micro - The Mysterious Warrior

Some time later, Holi, Clipper, and Jan went out patrolling the countryside for the Breastforce, soon spotting Hellbat flying overhead. They tailed him to the mountains, where the Decepticon met with a new potential Breastforce member, Deathcobra. After Hellbat accidentally killed his fellow, he spotted the two Micromasters and convinced the rest of the Breastforce that the Autobots were responsible for Deathcobra's death. As implausible as this seemed, the other Decepticons bought it and attacked Holi and Clipper, who fought back. Clipper's hand took a direct hit, but the pair were saved by the arrival of Star Saber, allowing them to escape by clinging to the side of the V-Star.

Though horrified at the Breastforce's new ability to form Liokaiser, Holi intended to help Star Saber flight, and asked Clipper to contact Raikuru. She took Jan with her, narrowly dodging a spiked ring flung by the combiner. By the time the pair returned with the news a rescue squad was on the way, Star Saber and God Ginrai had defeated Liokaiser. Though Holi moped that he hadn't been much use, Clipper was sure he'd done his best. Unite! Liokaiser

When the Autobots departed planet Micro aboard Galaxy Shuttle, Jan imagined a cutesy version of Clipper crying into a hankie because Holi had to leave his home planet (and her) again. Resurrection!? The Decepticon Fortress Subsequently, Jan recalled Clipper's presence during the first combination of Liokaiser. Battle Up of Wrath!! Much later, after Deathsaurus and his forces were defeated, Holi and the Rescue Patrol Team returned full-time to Micro. Clipper stood by in amusement when Fire, Pīpō, and Boater tried to get Holi to play soccer with them instead of doing paperwork. Showdown! The Fortress vs the Victory Unification

Notes

[edit]
HI RUTH HI RUTH HI RUTH
  • Clipper's model is basically a leaner, visor-less rendition of the Decepticon Sports Car Patrol Micromaster Hyperdrive. A year later, that mold was released by Takara in very Clipper-esque maroon-and-white colors as part of the Autobot Super Car Patrol Team... but named Gingham (who had his own similar-but-more-toylike animation model). Still, Gingham makes a decent substitute toy for Clipper, while a semi-ambitious customizer can make do with Hyperdrive.
