Energy weapons are weapons infused with nonspecific energy to make them more powerful. Example include the energy sword, the energy saber, and the energy axe.

Marvel The Transformers comics

Megatron's energy axe appeared exclusively in the UK portion of the Marvel Comics continuity.

Megatron badly injured Sunstreaker with an energy axe during the Games on Cybertron before the war. When Optimus Prime intervened, Megatron turned the axe on him, managing to crease Prime's chestplate with it, before Prime levelled the playing field by drawing his photon pistol. State Games

Toys

[edit]

Generation 2

[edit]
  • Accessories: energy sword, twin laser gun
Grimlock's original toy was redecoed for release in Generation 2, lacking the rocket launcher and rockets and with his remaining weapons more generically labelled as an energy sword and a twin laser gun in the instructions. While the packaging bio reflects this name change for his sword, it maintains that he carries a galaxial rocket launcher in "Dinobot mode".

Notes

[edit]
  • Optimus Prime's Energon-axe is occasionally referred to as an energy axe.
  • While it's understandable that the Dreamwave More than Meets the Eye writers might have decided to replace Springer's light saber with a more generic energy saber for trademark reasons, it's less clear why they similarly genericised Wreck-Gar's armor axe.
  • While Rodimus Prime's profile in The AllSpark Almanac II (written by Kup) calls his weapon an energy bow, the accompanying illustration is labelled as an Energon bow.
