Excellion is a Velocitronian Autobot from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
Not Shot

A brooding loner from the planet Velocitron, Excellion has actually won more respect from the Decepticons than he has the Autobots by successfully infiltrating their base completely unseen on more than one occasion. While the Autobots appreciate his efforts, it's his attitude that has estranged him from his peers.

With any luck, his new mentor Blurr can whip him into shape.

Following the war with Galvatron, Excellion stepped up to join the Autobots and fell under Override's command on board the Star Arrow. During a space mission when they were transporting a valuable Force Chip, the Star Arrow was shot down above the planet Sandokan. While searching for the means of repairing their ship, Excellion and the Autobots were attacked by Synthos, the deranged creature who had brought their ship down. They managed to retreat to a cave where they set up camp to repair their injuries and signal for rescue. Unfortunately, things were never that simple. The Decepticon mercenary known as Astrotrain arrived on Synthos, searching for their Force Chip and the Dark Heart that powered Synthos. Excellion kept watch over their injured comrades Blurr and Longrack while Override and Swerve confronted the Decepticon. He was caught unawares by Astrotrain's Mini-Con partners, however, and lost the Force Chip to the mercenaries.

The Autobots raced after Astrotrain, and caught up with the Decepticon during a skirmish between him and Synthos. Astrotrain attempted to overpower the creature by using the Force Chip, but was fighting a losing battle. Synthos got possession of the Force Chip and nearly became unstoppable as he tried to add its power to his own Dark Heart. Luckily, Excellion and Blurr managed to fend off the creature and reclaim the Force Chip before any of their enemies could. In an ironic twist, the Autobots were then saved by the arrival of the space pirate Cannonball, Astrotrain's employer. As the Decepticons occupied themselves with the threat of Synthos, Excellion and the Autobots snuck aboard Cannonball's shuttle and assumed control of the vessel. Released in the sixth wave of Hasbro's Cybertron Deluxes, Excellion is a redeco of Cybertron Hot Shot, now playing up the Hot Rod-inspired design cues with a fiery red/orange/yellow paint-job, transforming into a modified [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Chrysler ME Four-Twelve|{{#if:Chrysler ME 412|Chrysler ME 412|Chrysler ME Four-Twelve}}]]. He comes with a Speed Planet Cyber Key that deploys transparent blue wings from his spoiler when the key is inserted into the rear of the car. The toy also comes with a spring-loaded missile-launching gun that can be carried in robot mode or pegged into the roof of the car mode.
His mold was also used to make Shattered Glass Goldbug and the live-action movie universe Breakaway.

During Christmastime 2007, Walmart got several exclusive double-packs of Cybertron Deluxes sold under the Universe banner. For this series, Excellion came packaged with Thundercracker. Both toys are identical to their original releases.

A redeco of Legacy: United "Cybertron Universe Hot Shot," Age of the Primes Excellion is an update of his original Cybertron toy, transforming into a red sports car.
He comes with his blaster, modeled after the original toy's spring-loaded missile launcher, but the "missile" is now a permanent gun barrel that ends in a Fire Blast effect-compatible peg. Like most Cybertron-derived Legacy figures, he comes with an entirely non-functional Cyber Key, which means his originally-spring-loaded spoiler-wings must be folded out manually. This key is made from the same transparent blue plastic as his windows and gun, resulting in an unusual color for the typically red Speed Planet key. His forearm panels can be removed as accessories, revealing a 5mm port underneath.
It's worth noting that his final deco does not directly draw from any previous toy that could be considered Excellion, leaving all the orange paint applications from his torso in favor of silvers and greys while adding dark grey sections to his car mode in the places these would be found on Hot Shot. His spoiler wings are now orange instead of blue, like the Legends of Cybertron red Hot Shot (see Notes below).
Erroneously, the packaging and instructions shows Excellion's allegiance as a Decepticon. Oops.
This toy was originally supposed to be part of a Cybertron-themed capsule exclusive to Walmart stores, along the same lines as prior years' exclusive themes like Velocitron and Toxitron. But the idea apparently fizzled out and became only two Deluxe toys (the other being Sideways) put out with little to no fanfare that only maybe showed up at your local brick-and-mortar store.

Part of the first series of Transformers Attacktix Boosters, Excellion is a redeco of the Hot Shot piece (of course). His large missile makes him one of the more effective Transformers shooters. Excellion's Special Power Sacrifice lets you keep him in play by replacing one of your Trooper figures with him.
Excellion's large base and wide stance make him an excellent defensive figure. He's even harder to shoot down when his missile is in place. The figure has four points of articulation; head, shoulders and waist.

  • Excellion is an homage to Generation 1 Hot Rod based on a Japanese DVD-exclusive redeco of Galaxy Force Exillion (the Japanese version of the original Cybertron Deluxe Hot Shot toy), which uses a similar overall color scheme but has a number of deco differences and was released in limited numbers. He uses the Galaxy Force name for Hot Shot with a slight change in spelling from Exillion to Excellion.
  • A redeco of Legends of Cybertron Hot Shot uses Excellion's approximate coloration and paint scheme; however, the toy is not actually labeled "Excellion", merely "Hot Shot". The reason for this is unclear.
  • The Hasbro sales copy for Age of the Primes Excellion on social media labels him as a descendant of Amalgamous Prime.
