How do we know?

[edit]

Is there something else that tells us that this is a Bumblebee toy and not a simple diecast VW Beetle? Or even a GoBots Bug Bite toy? --Khajidha 16:42, 24 October 2013 (EDT)

It's got the same colors as Bumblebee does. Plus, I don't think I've ever seen a diecast VW Beetle in those colors, and Bug Bite had writing on the hood on his original toy (that's what I think you're referring too). Escargon 16:47, 24 October 2013 (EDT)
Is the blue on the toy actually blue or is it "old comics blue-for-black"? I've definitely seen yellow diecast beetles with black trim. Also, why assume that just because there isn't/may not be a real world yellow and blue toy beetle that there isn't one in the reality of this cover? Bumblebee's actual toy has no blue, so if this toy is considered to actually be blue and not "blue for black", then it also can't be an actual Bumblebee. It also lacks the black running boards of the real toy, the insignia on the top of the vehicle, and the faux penny-racer rack on the rear. Yes, the joke is that Bumblebee is playing with a toy that looks like his altmode, but I don't see how we can definitively say that it is a toy of him and not some other toy VW. --Khajidha 17:06, 24 October 2013 (EDT)
I strongly doubt a Marvel UK artist would draw the actual physical toy if they wanted to draw Bumblebee playing with a Bumblebee toy. They'd merely use the character models they have available, and not search out to see if the toy looked differently. --ItsWalky 20:23, 24 October 2013 (EDT)
The details of Anthony Duranti's robot-mode Bumblebee toy don't match up to any existing Bumblebee toy either, hence the title "Fictional toys" --Emvee 07:05, 25 October 2013 (EDT)
Y'all are still missing my central point. Walky said "I strongly doubt a Marvel UK artist would draw the actual physical toy if they wanted to draw Bumblebee playing with a Bumblebee toy." How do we know the artist wanted to draw that and not just "Bumblebee playing with a toy VW Beetle"? All the points about it being different from an actual BB toy also apply to any other VW based toy. What definitively makes this a Bumblebee toy? --Khajidha 08:09, 25 October 2013 (EDT)
It's a Bumblebee toy because that's the gag. --KilMichaelMcC 09:34, 25 October 2013 (EDT)

Which works whether its a Bumblebee toy or just a VW toy. But, whatever. --Khajidha 10:03, 25 October 2013 (EDT)
