Strictly speaking, I'm not sure about the status of these BW2nd guys as protoforms-as-BW-used-them. One of my BW2nd books has the following information on them:

Here

They appear to be called Sentou-In, which, when I looked it up, was a generic anime term for "warriors" or "combatants" - what you'd call mindless cannonfodder, like the Putties from MMPR, Talpa's green soldiers from Ronin Warriors, etc.

I think they have to be some variety of protoform, since the Autorollers were made from them... though one of the Autorollers had history with one of the Insectrons (Autocrusher saved Big Mos's life, maybe?), indicating that rather than being newborn Sparks, the sentou-in may have been pre-existing Predacons who'd given up their bodies for.. ease of transport or whatever. I don't actually remember what the sidebar on them says; anyone want to take a crack at it and see if it helps their classification? --Monzo 22:06, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Super duper rough translation of that sidebar: "Mainly, not used in battle; helpers of warriors."

In the series, they appear to function as some kind of protoform, though as you referenced in Autocrucher's origin, they are not the typical "blank slate" variety.

I think they still qualify as a type of protoform, they just require notes about their differences.

EDIT: Also, look at Rampage. He was called "Protoform X", which means, as a protoform, he did a variety of evil acts before being filed away in a stasus pod. Which I guess means he wasn't a "blank slate", either, much like the Autorollers. --DrSpengler 22:14, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
