I don't know about better; the color on this one is more washed-out, and it's harder to make out details. It's definitely a different version, though. I've put up the two images on the right for comparison. Note that this one has the words "annual" and "the", while the other one doesn't. So...it turns out the answer was right here all along. It seems that this one is the cover of the softcover edition of the annual, which (as stated before) lacks the words "the" and "annual".
