Road Hugger is a Decepticon Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
"Finally. My elbow!"

Even by Micromaster standards, Road Hugger is brash, defiant, and contemptuous of authority. His intelligence and bravery make him Blackjack's most valued operative in the Sports Car Patrol, but his willingness to follow orders can't be relied on. Despite this, and his disdain for Blackjack's intricate plans and excessive caution, they work well together.

After studying the captive Autobot Battle Patrol, Thunderwing and his scientists managed to replicate Emirate Xaaron's Micromaster process and create a new era of Decepticon Micromasters, including Road Hugger and his cohorts. A Small War!

While most of Transformerkind believed Megatron to be deceased, the Sports Car Patrol worked in secret to help him regain control of the Decepticons. Using forged Autobot insignia, the four Micromasters infiltrated the Ark and lured Ratchet to Cybertron with promises of advanced medical equipment to aid him in restoring his fallen comrades to life. Back from the Dead In reality, Ratchet was needed to assist in the recreation of Megatron's most lethal lieutenant, Starscream. Road Hugger openly mocked Ratchet's dismay over the situation, gloating on how his team had so thoroughly tricked the Autobot. The Resurrection Gambit!

Soon after, Megatron declared the Decepticons' moment of triumph imminent. With Starscream fully repaired and upgraded into a mindless weapon of mass destruction, Megatron invited the Sports Car Patrol to join him in watching the Ark's destruction after they had disassembled Ratchet's lab. But Ratchet had been hatching a plot of his own, and caused a terminal in the lab to overload, catching Road Hugger and the other Micromasters in its explosion. The Autobot then reactivated his buddies (Jazz, Grimlock, and Bumblebee), and sicced them on Megatron and his minions. All the Familiar Faces! The Race Car Patrol swarmed Jazz, the battle going in their favor until Ratchet informed his teammate of his new capabilities as a Pretender. Once the Autobot managed to get the hang of remote-controlling his shell, Road Hugger's group began losing ground. Megatron was still more than capable of dealing with the Autobots however, and pitched all three of the new Pretenders outside, ordering his minions after them while he chased down Ratchet through his base's corridors. But despite their superior numbers, Road Hugger and the others were defeated just as Ratchet managed to teleport several explosives within the base. From a distance, both sides witnessed the building go up in flames, seemingly signaling the end of both Ratchet and Megatron. Skin Deep

After Big Daddy lost a race with Roadhandler, Road Hugger tried to pick a fight with the defeated Autobot, but was captured by Chop Shop, who was searching for the Race Track Patrol. Venom convinced the reluctant Insecticon to toss him back. Recipe for Hate

On behalf of a mysterious benefactor, Road Hugger and the rest of the Sports Car Patrol ambushed Nightbeat in a bizarre underground chamber on Gorlam Prime. After a brief chase, they led him into a dead end, allowing their master to capture him. Released in the sixth year of the The Transformers toyline (fifth year in the European line), Road Hugger transforms into a Ferrari 408 Integrale concept car.
He was only available in the Sports Car Patrol four-pack, released in the second wave of Micromaster Patrols, with his teammates Blackjack, Detour, Hyperdrive. Road Hugger is gang-molded with his teammate Blackjack, so they share plastic colors.
This mold was also used to make the other Road Hugger.
