Talk:Solarbot (individual)
I'm over here reading up on [Greasepit (G2)], and the note at the bottom points out the clear Racing Rig driver here. I'm starting to wonder if this might actually be our boy Solarbot, but I have nothing to back that up. Does anyone have exactly what the presenters said on record somewhere?--MCRG 20:29, 27 June 2011 (EDT)
Does Solarbot not have a faction? --flicky1991 14:37, 22 July 2013 (EDT)
- Doesn't look like it. He's not a Cybertronian, anyway. He just copied Rewind's appearance to take on a physical form to communicate with the TFs. Though, he can be given the Battle Beasts Sunburst logo as an optional decal from the bonus sticker sheet. --Sabrblade 21:12, 22 July 2013 (EDT)
- Just noticed, on the Solar Requiem page, he's listed as an SG Decepticon. If that's stated in the story, then it should be included here. --flicky1991 03:13, 23 July 2013 (EDT)
- Flipping through the story again, Solarbot is given no allegiance. The closest he ever gets is when he introduced himself as "I am a Solar—" (he's cut off mid-sentence by Blaster), in which is likely would have said "I am a Solarbot", suggesting that Solarbot is less of a personal name and more of the name of his race/species. --Sabrblade 23:07, 24 July 2013 (EDT)

Proposed split
[edit]The way the "Solarbot" article is currently laid out misleadingly implies the Shattered Glass character is the Generation 2 character like Nasta Enemy to e-HOBBY Enemy when in fact we still do not know what the Generation 2 trademark was supposed to represent. In fact, the term "Solarbot" seems to imply an Autobot subgroup of multiple characters. I recommend a split between "Solarbot (G2)" and "Solarbot (SG)".
Nevermore has pointed out a hypothesis based upon catalogue listings that the "Solarbots" and "Solarjets" would have been the gang-moulded Flipchangers ultimately released in Machine Wars and Beast Wars II. It's certainly not beyond doubt, but I think the hypothesis is worth detailing on its own merit. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 22:57, 9 March 2023 (EST)
- Feels very obtuse to do this when at the time, as I recall from the old Twitter stuff/Hall's statements on various websites, the Solarbot reveal was hyped up as "an obscure character who you'll never guess." Escargon (talk) 23:15, 9 March 2023 (EST)
- Agreed. This feels like when we used to have separate pages for the Animated and G1 versions of Eddie Fairchild and Matt Conroy - the G2 Solarbot doesn't actually exist except as a trivia note, so it's just pedantry to give it its own page. --Riptide (talk) 23:18, 9 March 2023 (EST)
- Yeah, given how absolutely nothing the "original" Solarbot is, splitting just seems like making pointless hoop-jumping. --M Sipher (talk) 01:48, 10 March 2023 (EST)
