[[The Fallen|Megatronus]] had [[Steeljaw (RID)|Steeljaw]] construct a spark fuser using [[Earth]] technology. Steeljaw, apparently unaware of its purpose, sat examining it while the rest of his team constructed the arch that would allow Megatronus to cross the dimensions into the material world. After Megatronus contacted them to demand they hasten their work, an enraged Steeljaw jammed the end of the spark fuser into the ground. {{storylink|Battlegrounds, Part 1}} After Megatronus's successful arrival on Earth, he took possession of the spark fuser and used it to draw [[Unicron]]'s anti-[[spark]] from the core of the planet. As he explained to Steeljaw, he intended to merge it with the [[AllSpark]], an action which would destroy both worlds. The staff produced a ray of energy which opened a portal in the sky, through which the AllSpark was drawn. Just as the AllSpark was about to reach the fuser, [[Optimus Prime (WFC)|Optimus Prime]] hurled his [[Prime Decepticon Hunter]], severing the lower end of the staff and deactivating it.
