Once an ordinary wrench, '''Nautica's wrench''' was upgraded by [[Brainstorm (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Brainstorm]] to become a versatile multipurpose tool for his friend.

When [[Nautica (G1)|Nautica]] left [[Caminus (planet)|Caminus]], she brought her wrench with her, using it to try and look threatening to the ''[[Lost Light]]''ers who'd made their way into [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]. {{storylink|The Dead Are Not Enough: Dark Cybertron Chapter 7|The Dead Are Not Enough}}

When Nautica later signed onto the ''Lost Light'', {{storylink|World, Shut Your Mouth Part 1: Towards Peace|Towards Peace}} Brainstorm tinkered with the wrench and added "a billion extras" including a light that went off should she be exaggerating. {{storylink|slaughterhouse}}

When the ''Lost Light'' vanished, the crew took the shuttles. As tensions mounted in the [[Rodpod]], [[Hound (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Hound]] menacingly advanced on Nautica, the Camien brandished her wrench (as a weapon that is, not a wrench), only for it to transpire that Hound was menacing [[Ravage (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ravage]]. When the Rodpod found a duplicate, but bisected, ''Lost Light'', {{storylink|Twenty Plus One}} they boarded to investigate, Nautica's wrench picking up that the local region of space had been "worn down" by warp jumps and subspace incursions while also serving to remotely reactivate the lifts and other systems. {{storylink|slaughterhouse}}

After Brainstorm tried to use [[time travel]] to prevent the [[Great War (G1)|Great War]] from occurring, he patched things up with the dissapointed Nautica by adding a new button to the wrench that caused it to say "BRAINSTORM IS AN ASS!" {{storylink|Our Steps Will Always Rhyme}}
