The other [[Dynasty of Primes|Primes]] took pity on the primitive [[human]]s and stole the [[Matrix of Leadership]] that powered the harvester, thereby rendering it useless and saving the planet. In 2009 AD, [[Jetfire (Movie)|Jetfire]] took [[Sam Witwicky]], [[Mikaela Banes]], [[Seymour Simmons]], [[Leo Spitz]], [[Wheelie (ROTF)|Wheelie]], [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]], [[Skids (ROTF)|Skids]], and [[Mudflap (ROTF)|Mudflap]] to <s>{{w|Wadi Rum}}</s> Egypt (which had assumed its more familiar desert appearance by that point) via a [[space bridge]]. Simmons got past the Egyptian military, who were ordered to arrest Sam after The Fallen put the price of humanity's existence on his head, by passing them off as his family: it also turned out the commanding officer, a Lieutenant General judging by his rank insignia, had visited [[New York City]], where Simmons noted he was from, and liked the place. The group later stayed at the [[pyramid]]s, where Sam figured out the [[Tomb of the Primes]] and the Matrix was hidden in [[Petra (Earth)|Petra]], [[Jordan]].

After finding the Matrix, the group returned to the pyramids, where [[NEST]] and the Decepticons had landed in a nearby town, readying for [[Operation: Firestorm|battle]]. [[Devastator (ROTF)|Devastator]] emerged in a quarry and climbed up the pyramid to excavate the harvester, while [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]], [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]], [[Ravage (ROTF)|Ravage]], and [[Constructicon (ROTF)|Constructicon]] clones attempted to claim the Matrix from Sam. [[Soundwave (ROTF)|Soundwave]] had jammed NEST's phone signals, but Simmons retrieved a radio from a downed Jordanian helicopter which he used to order the [[United States Navy#U.S.S. Kidd (DDG-100)|USS ''Kidd'']] to fire her experimental [[rail gun]] on Devastator, and to get reinforcements. Sam was able to resurrect Optimus with the Matrix before The Fallen snatched it and powered his machine. *''Revenge of the Fallen''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s depiction of Egypt and Jordan, more specifically the pyramids and Petra, is somewhat different compared to the real world: in the real world the pyramids are located on the Giza plateau 80 miles from the coast of the Gulf of Suez, which forms the most northern part of the western Red Sea. In the film however, the location of the pyramids is repeatedly stated in dialogue and shown via maps to be in the {{w|Gulf of Aqaba}}, the most northern part of the eastern Red Sea. Specifically on the most northern shore 3 miles to the west. Likewise the location of Petra also differs between fiction and reality: the real Petra is located roughly 60 miles north of the Gulf of Aqaba but in the film it is presented as being in the coastal mountains just to the east of the gulf.
*On Simmons's GPS satellite image of the Gulf of Aqaba Egypt and Jordan are clearly marked in white text but Israel is not, implying it does not yet exist. Israel is however mentioned in Age of Extinction, suggesting that it was founded at a much later date compared to the real world.
*The temple of Luxor is used to portray a fictional structure located next to the pyramid of Khafre and is where the final battle between Optimus Prime, Megatron and The Fallen was filmed.
