Akram was in his desert village home when his son, Mahfouz, and a group of [[United States Army|US Army Rangers]] came running across the desert pursued by a [[Scorponok (Movie)|giant mechanical scorpion]]. The troops, including Mahfouz's friend, [[William Lennox]], rushed into the village. Mahfouz led Lennox to Akram so Lennox could ask for a telephone.
