The '''Underground Safe Zone''' is a base established by the [[Autobot]]s during the war for [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Its location was on the outer edge of the [[Rust Sea|Sea of Rust]] and it was occupied by the [[Firestormer|Autobot Alphastrike Counterforce]] during their counterstrike mission against the [[Phantomstrike Squadron|Decepticon Phantomstrike Squadron]].

During the war for Cybertron, [[Hound (G1)|Hound]] was dispatched to scout out the Sea of Rust as a possible safe zone for the Autobots to position themselves in. The only obstacle in their way was the toxic, armor-stripping climate that could cause critical damage if exposed to the atmosphere for prolonged periods of time; This required the Autobots to find a solution that would shield them from the region's cruel environment.
