There's no ''real'' reason you couldn't just write it out manually <small>(aside from the common tendency to misspell it as "Teletran" or "Teletron")</small> but calling it like this serves the same purpose calling '''<tt><nowiki>{{SITENAME}}</nowiki></tt>''' does: providing easy forward-computability in the event this site ever chooses to change its name to something else, like "Witwickypedia."  It also ensures that you won't accidentally format the name differently than all the other instances.  ("Wait, am I supposed to bold it or italicize it...?")
