Corliss was part of a mission to [[Castle Neuschwanstein]] to investigate the [[Non-Biological Extraterrestrial|N.B.E.]] that the [[Nazi]]s had gotten hold of. During the plane flight, he amused himself by telling [[Bill Simmons|Simmons]] to stick with him, while sticking a "shoot me" sign to the newbie's backpack. Though Simmons was about to hit him after Donavan pointed out the sign, they were interrupted by enemy fire. The team bailed out of the plane, but Corliss didn't make it to the ground intact; Simmons later found his severed arm, still clutching the "shoot me" note. {{storylink|Weapon (issue)|Weapon}}
