Editing Jhiaxian Academy of Advanced Technology

Named after the famous scientist [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]] and administered in turn by his former student, the [[Senate|Senator]] [[Shockwave (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Shockwave]], the '''Jhiaxian Academy of Advanced Technology''' or '''J.A.A.T.''' is an educational institution on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. What is less well known is that it also serves as a haven for [[outlier]]s — those [[Transformer]]s possessing unique powers that do not match their [[alternate mode]]s.

Known attendees include:
*[[Glitch (IDW)|Glitch]] for his power to disrupt electricity
*[[Skids (G1)|Skids]] for his ability to learn any skill
*[[Windcharger (G1)|Windcharger]] for his electromagnetic arms
*A truck capable of generating forcefields<ref>The forcefield-generating truck is most likely [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] but since this was in the aptly-named ''[[The Transformers: More than Meets the Eye|More than Meets the Eye]]'', it's wholly possible that's just what [[James Roberts]] wants us to think.</ref>

At some point, the [[NAIL protester]] gave a lecture protesting against the Senate's prevailingly [[Functionism|functionist]] policies at the Academy, which was broadcast live.

Later, having uncovered a plot to assassinate Shockwave, the [[Rodion]] police captain [[Optimus Prime (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Orion Pax]] sent [[Roller (G1)|Roller]] and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] to the J.A.A.T. to take the Senator into protective custody. Skids attempted to intervene but was intimidated by the much larger Roller. {{storylink|Shadowplay, Part 2: Patternism|Patternism}}

When Orion Pax devised a plan to steal a bomb disguised as the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] from the body of [[Nominus Prime]] lying in state at the [[Primal Basilica]], Shockwave recruited three outliers from the Academy to assist him — Glitch, Skids and Windcharger. Although their mission was successful, while they were away the Academy of Advanced Technology was burnt down (which was blamed on a faulty [[propex]] conduit) and the Senate sent their [[Heavies]] along with [[Macabre]] and [[Kroma]] to Rodion police HQ to kidnap Shockwave.
