After the war, Blitzwing remained close to the Decepticon hierarchy, and he and his fellow Triple-Changer [[Astrotrain (G1)\|Astrotrain]] seemingly replaced the disbanded Seekers as personal guards to the leadership. When the Decepticon movement fractured, Blitzwing remained loyal to the newer but more aggressive and militant [[Galvatron (G1)/2005 IDW continuity\|Galvatron]] instead of the peaceful and isolationist [[Soundwave (G1)/2005 IDW continuity\|Soundwave]]. Unfortunately, Blitzwing's involvement in Galvatron's schemes led to him being captured and subjected to experiments by [[Miles Mayhem]].
