Buster could do nothing but mope around until the Autobots finally came to his rescue. As he ducked to cover, anticipating the inevitable fire-exchange between the two factions, Buster noticed that something was off about the island's vegetation; all of it was artificial! The entire landmass was the Decepticons' base, its surface only being disguised as an island. Its surface became encased in massive polymer-glass panels, and booster jets fired up deep underwater, sending the whole thing off into space. The massive g-forces sent Buster unconscious once more, and he came to as the Earth was shrinking down into the distance bellow him. But one Autobot had managed to grab hold onto the rocket, and was coming to his rescue: [[Fortress Maximus (G1)\|Fortress Maximus]]. Shockwave made every attempt to shake the Autobot off his ship, first sending a lance through his chest, only for Maximus's head to detach and transform into a smaller robot, [[Cerebros (G1)\|Cerebros]]. Shockwave then blasted ''him'' in the chest, only for ''his'' head to detach and transform... into Buster's older brother, [[Spike Witwicky (G1)\|Spike]]! After sending Shockwave down to burn up in Earth's atmosphere, Spike had a brief chance to see his younger brother face-to-face, before Ratbat shook him loose from the ship again. As Buster had suspected earlier, among them was indeed Bumblebee, though he now went by the moniker "Goldbug." Barnett urged Buster to come along with him on a matter of national security, and Sparkplug happily handed over the keys of his pickup to his son. Grabbing his radio, Buster sped off towards the Ark with Barnett. They were forced to make a pit stop along the way though, as the Autobots' toy bodies were in need of new batteries. While shopping around for some at the local mall, the [[Predacon (G1)\|Predacons]], led by Ratbat, burst in and charged them. The toy-Autobots managed to drive away and lured most of their pursuers along, leaving Goldbug with Buster. They were attacked by Ratbat in turn, though they escaped him thanks to Barnett dropping a security gate atop the Decepticon. Goldbug and Buster resumed their journey towards the Ark while Barnett stayed behind to gather back up the rest of the Autobots. On arriving at their destination however, Buster found that the spaceship was gone! Thankfully, some machinery had been left behind, including an intergalactic tranceiver. Following Goldbug's instructions, Buster used it to send out a distress signal. He managed to complete his transmission when Ratbat appeared again, having stowed away within Buster's radio. As Buster had suspected earlier, among them was indeed Bumblebee, though he now went by the moniker "Goldbug." Barnett urged Buster to come along with him on a matter of national security, and Sparkplug happily handed over the keys of his pickup to his son. Grabbing his radio, Buster sped off towards the Ark with Barnett. They were forced to make a pit stop along the way though, as the Autobots' toy bodies were in need of new batteries. While shopping around for some at the local mall, the [[Predacon (G1)\|Predacons]], led by Ratbat, burst in and charged them. The toy-Autobots managed to drive away and lured most of their pursuers along, leaving Goldbug with Buster. They were attacked by Ratbat in turn, though they escaped him thanks to Barnett dropping a security gate atop the Decepticon. Goldbug and Buster resumed their journey towards the Ark while Barnett stayed behind to gather back up the rest of the Autobots. On arriving at their destination however, Buster found that the spaceship was gone! Thankfully, some machinery had been left behind, including an intergalactic tranceiver. Following Goldbug's instructions, Buster used it to send out a distress signal. He managed to complete his transmission when Ratbat appeared again, having stowed away within Buster's radio. The two Decepticons had elected to keep him as their hostage, in order to deter the human military from launching an attack on their island base. Unperturbed by his perilous situation, Buster asked the robots to provide him with some food. They complied by tossing him some fish, cooked by laser-fire. Buster could do nothing but mope around until the Autobots finally came to his rescue. As he ducked to cover, anticipating the inevitable fire-exchange between the two factions, Buster noticed that something was off about the island's vegetation; all of it was artificial! The entire landmass was the Decepticons' base, its surface only being disguised as an island. Its surface became encased in massive polymer-glass panels, and booster jets fired up deep underwater, sending the whole thing off into space. The massive g-forces sent Buster unconscious once more, and he came to as the Earth was shrinking down into the distance bellow him. But one Autobot had managed to grab hold onto the rocket, and was coming to his rescue: [[Fortress Maximus (G1)\|Fortress Maximus]]. Shockwave made every attempt to shake the Autobot off his ship, first sending a lance through his chest, only for Maximus's head to detach and transform into a smaller robot, [[Cerebros (G1)\|Cerebros]]. Shockwave then blasted ''him'' in the chest, only for ''his'' head to detach and transform... into Buster's older brother, [[Spike Witwicky (G1)\|Spike]]! After sending Shockwave down to burn up in Earth's atmosphere, Spike had a brief chance to see his younger brother face-to-face, before Ratbat shook him loose from the ship again. However, his father had a different idea, and had decided that hanging out with a warring race of alien robots wasn't the best thing for his son. ~~Sparklug~~ made Buster promise to never interact with the Autobots again, and Buster reluctantly accepted. Buster figured one more ride with Ratchet wouldn't hurt, and he traveled with Ratchet to the Ark as previously agreed. Ratchet offered to drive Buster home, but Buster refused, saying he'd stay with the college kids and noting that Ratchet had more important things to worry about.
