Once built, the Combination Core took up an entire section of the colony but remained untested until the [[Technobot (G1)\|Technobots]] arrived on Hexagon as part of [[Colonial Security]] to investigate potential criminal activity. [[Strafe (G1)\|Strafe]] and [[Lightspeed (G1 Technobot)\|Lightspeed]] stumbled upon the housing for the Combination Core and were confronted by Airachnid. The other Technobots were also attacked by Thunderwing's lackeys and regrouped in the Core room, where Airachnid's attack knocked [[Scattershot (G1)\|Scattershot]] into the Core itself. The Combination Core was absorbed into Scattershot and its energies reached out, merging him and his team into [[Computron (G1)\|Computron]].
