			:::::It was multi-part, with lots of manual touchups, selective blending and playing around with levels & curves to get to a flat black insignia on a flat white background. The second-last stage, rather than a magic wand selection, was [http://acedar.blogspot.co.uk/2008/01/gimp-tutorial-removing-white.html this] (I use GIMP), and then I added a lighten-only layer with the orange (albeit at first I forgot GIMP's a bit funny about lightening stuff with partial alpha transparancy, and then had to go back in and do ''lots'' of lighten-only layers to get rid of the slight black halo!). - [[User:SanityOrMadness\|SanityOrMadness]] 23:35, 20 March 2013 (EDT)

[[:File:PredaconPrimeLogo.png\|See the difference?]] All your versions cropped the edges FAR too hard, even the 528kB one, so changing the encoding from 1-bit just increased the filesize rather than increasing the quality - it was a "go back and try again" scenario.
