They were met by the Quintesson exile, disguised as the pupil, and deceived into supporting the Red Wizard. While sleeping, Daniel was placed in the dungeon with the Golden One's pupil, who was able to explain the situation with somewhat more accuracy, helping Daniel to realise that the Red Wizard had tricked the two visitors. Daniel freed him from his bonds and, during the battle for the castle, the dungeon wall was breached.
