* ~~While we can only speculate, a possible origin~~ of the ~~Liegian Darts may lie~~ in a Geoff Senior illustration of the Liege Maximo produced for the unofficial "Alignment" story, as seen at right~~. This piece~~ depicts the titanic Maximo sending forth three pointed spacecraft from his palm, ~~and~~ was ~~notably~~ reprinted in an official capacity in Transformers: The Ultimate Guide, a book which became the de facto reference text for the franchise for years afterwards. Out of context, could ~~this image have been~~ interpreted as a less enormous Liege Maximo firing dart weapons from his hand, ~~thus inspiring~~ the Liegian ~~Darts when~~ the ~~time came to establish~~ a signature artifact ~~for each Prime? Whether true or not~~, Age of the Primes ~~took it full circle and used the designs~~ of the ~~three ships for the Liegian Darts included with the line's Liege Maximo figure~~. * The Liegian Darts originated as part of the so-called "Binder of Revelation"—an internal Hasbro document designed to align brand storytelling—and at the time they didn't seem to be taken from any of the Liege Maximo's previous (scant) appearances in fiction. Rather, it seems they were derived from a Geoff Senior illustration of the Liege Maximo produced for the unofficial "Alignment" story, as seen at right, which depicts the titanic Maximo sending forth three pointed spacecraft from his palm. Notably, this piece was reprinted in an official capacity in Transformers: The Ultimate Guide, a book which became the de facto reference text for the franchise for years afterwards. Out of context, the image could be interpreted as a less enormous Liege Maximo firing dart weapons from his hand. We were left to speculate until, shortly after the Age of the Primes toy reveal, the fandom uncovered a wealth of artwork that went into the production of the Autobot Alliance Immersive Experience in China that included a Liegian Dart represented by the design of one of the spaceships, meaning that Hasbro had considered them one and the same since 2017 at the latest. The exhibition featured a touchscreen game which required pairing each Prime with their signature artifact and included the spaceship/dart artwork (dartwork), meaning the fandom at large could have discovered this nine years before the Age of the Primes toy, if any of us had made the trip to Chongqing.
