His first professional experience was in a radio show in which he performed a sketch every week. Then he did the same, but for television. Since 2010, he is active in cinema, starting with minor roles before escalating.

Philippe Lacheau is known for his roles in the ''Babysitting'' films, ''Alibi.com'', ''Épouse-moi mon pote'', but also ''Nicky Larson et le parfum de Cupidon'', the live-action adaptation of ''City Hunter'' in which he plays Ryo Saeba. He wrote and directed all these films (except ''Épouse-moi mon pote'', directed by his good friend Tarek Boudali), and they were all successes at the French box-office.

His rare voice acting roles are Peter Rabbit in the eponymous 2018 film, Max in ''The Secret Life of Pets'' and its sequel, and Christopher King in ''City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes''.
