Shockwave demonstrates by converting some of the platform's [[oil]] into cubes, then announces his plan to steal "a large release of sonic energy." The Decepticons take flight, evading the naval fleet by detonating one of the cubes in mid-air, blinding their attackers with the blast. But all is not lost; microphones planted in the oil platform's supports allowed the humans to overhear the Decepticons' plans, and the information is soon relayed by Blackrock to the Autobots.
