:Samuel Walker is a human from the live-action film continuity family.
faceless
Captain Samuel L. Walker is a man driven by the need to explore space, a drive which led him to be the first to be assigned to a special Sector Seven project. Though he hopes to get his crew safely back to Earth when the mission is over, he's not afraid to take the tough choices — he knows any mission of this type is dangerous. He has a wife, Julie, waiting for him at home in San Diego.

Fiction
Ghosts of Yesterday prequel novel
Captain Walker, along with the rest of his crew, spent years training, in the frozen north, in preparation for the launch of Ghost 1 from the Sector Seven High Arctic Base. After launch, Walker to put aside any doubts they had about the mission. Of course, shortly after that, the mission went wrong — the Ghost 1 was shot through a wormhole to a distant star system and the crew rendered unconscious. When they recovered, they were face-to-face with an unfamiliar ship which disgorged alien machines resembling the Ice Man in cold storage back on Earth. Walker decided to set the ship down on a nearby planet.

Walker recorded a message to send back to Earth detailing their situation, however their situation soon changed, as they were contacted by one of the mechanical creatures, which called itself Starscream. Starscream informed them that the Autobots were evil aggressors, and they should team up with him. The Ghost 1 crew managed to contact Earth, but to Walker's disappointment, no answer to the question of getting them home was forthcoming. With a growing headache, Walker called for a discussion on their next course of action, and it was decided that they would have to cooperate with Starscream or risk leading the evil Autobots to Earth.

After aiding Starscream in an attack on Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, Walker began to suspect that the Decepticon was not being entirely truthful. He has his crew make excuses, and then once Starscream had left, attempted to lift off in the ship. Unfortunately it was unable to attain escape velocity before the ground gave way and it crashed into a cavern. Starscream's subsequent gloating merely proved Walker's earlier feelings correct. When the ship was subsequently found by Optimus Prime, Walker found this new alien more trustworthy. The Autobot leader helped them escape the cave and the giant worm creatures it contained.

As the ship rose back into space, the crew contacted Earth again, and Walker was informed by coded message that he should be prepared to sacrifice the ship if necessary to safeguard Earth's security. If they were to die out there, Walker was determined to do so while aiding the Autobots in any way they could. Despite the temptation of the wormhole home, and even later instructions from Earth to return home if they could, Walker disregarded the urgings of the rest of his crew to go back. On his orders, the ship opened fire on Starscream, just as the Decepticon was about to terminate Optimus. The act saved Optimus, but Starscream's next act was to destroy the ship, killing all on board. Ghosts of Yesterday
