Some fans (I believe Rob Jung's list used to use this) will list a toy during the actual calendar year in which it was first found on shelves, whereas some fans (I believe this is the system tsarchive used to use; don't know about the case assortment page) will list a toy under its product year, meaning that even figures released in, say, December 2002 may be listed as 2003 product, because that's when they were solicited for and intended to be on shelves by Hasbro.
