They were published to document the history of the art in a non-fictional capacity. Making the Diaclone art the main pics is making up canon. Riptide's point about Burn-Out and Lift-Ticket being identities assigned to the Diaclone mecha contradicts the idea that the Diaclone art is a representation of those mecha.
