In the interview above, John Barber commentates on Longarm and Salvage's origin in which he seems to hold the Cybertronian veteran origin of Longarm and Salvage from the novels over the AllSpark mutation origin from the toys (timestamp for the interview section in question is roughly 00:14:00-00:17:00).

On this timeline page, however, it is told that Longarm and Salvage are AllSpark mutations as stated in the toy bios.
