Taking on a different alternate mode with basically the same body doesn't quite seem like the Transformer is getting a "new body" either. Transmetals pretty much have the same body too, just mutated. I might be in favor of scrapping the article except getting a new body is treated as a pretty big deal in fiction, because of toys of course.
