The divide between the two factions continued to grow and by the 25th century, was large enough that it began sucking resources away from the [[Confederated Terran Colonial Fleet|Terran fleet]]. The schism eventually descended into a series of wars, later labelled as the [[Fall of Man]], that resulted in the end of Terran Ascendency and heralded a new dark age for the species. {{storylink|The Inexorable March}}
