Whether through coincidence or design, this number ''does'' belong to a real locomotive that is, as of {{CURRENTYEAR}}, still in active operation... however, the book depicts UP 2040 as a fanciful sci-fi locomotive instead of the real-life {{w|EMD GP38-2}}.
