It's possible that the Deluxe Thundercracker (& Company), with canards, are called Su-35 because that (as it turns out) is what Sukhoi branded the Su-27M prototype - which did have canards - as during the 1990s airshow campaign, but given the 2006 release date it probably is based on the Su-37 which was starring at airshows around that time.
