| According to [[Elita One]], Carcer was formerly known as [[Tempo]]. Tempo travelled through space for eons, and as his natural resources began to diminish his occupants began sacrificing their own bodies to keep their Titan alive. Eventually, Elita One became captain, ruling from a chair composed of the bodies of their colony's greatest heroes- all of whom had given their lives in the service of their ship. The straitened inhabitants learned to value three things above all else: efficiency, security, and truth. | After Cybertron decided to re-establish contact with its abandoned colonies, the First Titan [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]] located Carcer with his sensors. {{storylink|First Contact (IDW)|First Contact}} During their climatic battle, [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] kicked [[Optimus Maximus (G1)|Optimus Maximus]] through Metroplex's space bridge and onto Carcer's hull, although Optimus quickly rebounded and dived back through to Cybertron. {{storylink|All That Remains}} Several weeks later, [[Windblade (G1)|Windblade]] and [[Starscream (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Starscream]] arrived to make formal contact. Believing that they were arriving on [[Tempo]], a Titan crewed by peaceful philosophers, they were surprised by Carcer's militaristic ways. Windblade was deeply worried when Elita told her they had renamed their ship "Carcer"— a name that Windblade knew belonged to a different Titan.
