The Global Orbiting Defense Satellites are weapons commissioned by President Colton as the ultimate defense for the United States of America. The satellites are equipped with a 10.8 exawatt laser system that can vaporize any target on or underneath the surface of the Earth, with high-precision aiming capability. The main control transmitter for the satellites is located at the Burpleson Air Force Base.

[edit]After learning about the Global Orbiting Defense Satellite's deployment from a presidential bulletin, Rodimus set out to find out what military base was controlling it so he could hijack it. He and the Autobots then launched a successful attack to overtake the base and thus gain control of the satellite.
Rodimus then made a broadcast to Earth of his demands that the world leaders submit to paying the dues of his "protection racket". After hearing this message, the Decepticons launched their own mission to free the base.
