The Golden Disk is a relic from an earlier age of Cybertron, it belonged to the ancestors of modern Transformers, and may hide the terrible secret of their origins.

[edit]While exploring the Forbidden Zones over 9 million years ago, Megatron discovered the entombed ruins of an ancient civilization. And in the hands of giant statues of the ancient Transformers Dai Atlas and Deathsaurus he found the Golden Disk, which proved the Council of Ancients dogma was a lie.
The council sent assassins after Megatron to silence his discovery, but he killed them back (preemptively). The Route of All Evil
