Galvatron kidnaps a scientist named Dr. Dalton and forces him to upgrade his Decepticons in all sorts of horrible ways! Can the Autobots rescue him?

Synopsis

[edit]

Near Earth, Galvatron and the Decepticons are preparing for an assault on their foes, the Autobots. Galvatron has kidnapped a scientist from the planet Eran, Doctor Dalton, and forced him not only to upgrade Dinobase, but to complete his newest and fiercest warriors: the Terrorcons!

Suddenly, the Aerialbots and Protectobots arrive on the scene, determined to rescue Dalton. The Aerialbots combine into Superion and rush Dinobase. However, Galvatron has a surprise in store for them. Thanks to Dalton's upgrades, Motormaster and Onslaught can now transform into base modes, connect with Dinobase and launch their warriors at tremendous speeds! The newly launched Stunticons and Combaticons focus their attacks on Superion's combination joints, forcing him to fall to pieces.

Blades curses the Decepticons and runs off to infiltrate Dinobase on his own. Meanwhile, Hot Spot transforms to his own base mode and begins repairing the Aerialbots one at a time while the remaining Protectobots keep the newly formed Menasor and Bruticus occupied.

As the Protectobots take a pounding, Blades makes it inside and finds Dr. Dalton. With the Decepticons distracted by the battle, Blades and the Doctor sneak away.

With the Aerialbots repaired, Silverbolt transforms into his own base mode and launches each of the Aerialbots at super speed. They rush toward Bruticus and Menasor, performing the "Aerialbot Warriors Scramble Shot Attack", which blinds the Decepticons and apparently defeats them somehow.

Galvatron is not taking the sight of their defeat well, and he takes the news that Dalton has been rescued even worse.

Back at Scramble City, Silverbolt and Hot Spot connect in their base modes. Inside, Dalton vows to help Rodimus Prime increase his power and defeat the Decepticons, unaware that Ratbat is spying on them. Rodimus bites his thumb in anxiety, as he isn't sure if their newest creations, the Technobots, will be any match for the Terrorcons.

Notes

[edit]
  • This issue takes place after "Grimlock's New Brain" but before "The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1".
  • The Great Transformer War series is the first Transformers manga to contradict the cartoon series overtly, as the origin presented here for the Technobots is entirely different from the origin presented in "Grimlock's New Brain". The next issue would apparently retcon out these continuity errors, claiming that the Technobots were merely upgraded in this story and not "born", as the actual text states.
  • Along with "Grimlock's New Brain", this issue marks one of the exceedingly rare instances in-fiction in which the Combiner team leaders use their base or third modes.
