- Smerg the Sad is a member of the Fresh Squeezes from BotBots.
Smerg the Sad am what he am, and what he am is "unpopular". Spinach went out of style with cartoon sailor-men, and now he wiles away the hours, dreaming of being a popular foodstuff.

Notes
[edit]- "Smerg" is (as we joke above), presumably a play on "Smaug", the dragon from The Hobbit. It's unclear how they arrived at that tweaking of the name other than "it sounds kinda dippy".
- Smerg isn't exactly the most accurate depiction of a spinach plant. Shocking, we know. But spinach isn't a "tree" kinda plant, it's more a "large leaves on long stems" kinda plant. Oh well!
- Smerg the Sad is used as a prop in the Autobot base in all five of the Transformers Stop Motion Netflix Anime shorts.
