Latest revision as of 20:32, 21 June 2025

As was pointed out, "concept characters" kind of sounds like characters exclusively from concept art or something. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm not sure there's a good, concise way of conveying the idea, but I like "Cross-continuity concept characters" - if nothing else, it prompts people to click on the category to find out what it actually is. --Broadside (talk) 16:53, 19 June 2025 (EDT)

This is a good note but I do worry bringing something as general as "multi-continuity" into it risks muddying the concept. Let's see, if we need something clinical with minimal wiki jargon... "Brand backstory characters?" Maybe? --AzimuthAcolyte (talk) 17:59, 19 June 2025 (EDT)
Perhaps "Continuity staple characters"? Or is that too broad? (I could see some making an argument that that would describe the likes of Optimus Prime and Megatron) --Sabrblade (talk) 18:02, 19 June 2025 (EDT)
Full credit to TheLastGherkin for workshopping this on the discord but I think "Category:Archetypes" communicates what we've been grasping towards here really concisely. --AzimuthAcolyte (talk) 18:32, 19 June 2025 (EDT)
I dunno. "Archetype" calls more to mind such things as "the hero", "the villain", "the sidekick", "the traitor", "the loner", "the smart one", etc., rather than specific characters who are pan-continuity constants. --Sabrblade (talk) 18:53, 19 June 2025 (EDT)
I'm now leaning towards "Category:Deep lore characters" because, well, that IS basically what we're talking around, and I think something tongue-in-cheek like that is in tone for the wiki. --Broadside (talk) 19:43, 19 June 2025 (EDT)
I'd throw in "Meta-Continuity Characters" from wadapan on the community portal--Arren Meuchel (talk) 20:10, 19 June 2025 (EDT)

Okay, because I think it's funny, I've made an executive decision to go with "Deep lore characters" since people on the Discord seem to be okay with it. --Broadside (talk) 16:21, 21 June 2025 (EDT)

It's a little goofy, but for my part I admit it is memorable wording. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 16:32, 21 June 2025 (EDT)
