Atlan is an Autobot Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Oh, Atlan. I said yeah, yeah, yeah! Got to get back to you.

The Train Team's most proficient fighter, Atlan (アトラン Atoran) can often be found sparring with Iron Lift in long bouts that draw big crowds. His specialty is karate, and he relentlessly trains to keep his skills up and his systems in peak condition. Many believe that Atlan is the reason behind Sixtrain's fearsome punching strength.

Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers

[edit]
  • Sixtrain (Micromaster Six-Team, 1992)
  • ID number: TF-05
Released in the Operation Combination portion of Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, Atlan is a redeco of Return of Convoy Alan, transforming into an [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}SNCF TGV Sud-Est|{{#if:||SNCF TGV Sud-Est}}]] high speed train in its silver and blue Atlantique livery. He has a "socket" connector tab in the back of his train mode allows him to "pull" any fellow Micromaster train or footplate-weapon with a "peg" connector. He also has a peg-hole on the top of his train mode that in theory lets him use the Sixtrain/Sixliner legs as a roof-mounted cannon, but it really only fits if you attach it so the knee-clips point backwards (thruster engines, maybe?).
He can also form either arm to any Six-team combined robot, though his nominal placement is as the right arm of Sixtrain. The toy's connector socket is approximately 5 mm wide, making Atlan compatible with so many other toys and accessories.
He was only available in the complete Sixtrain box set, along with this fellow Micromasters Desire, Convertor, Raise, San D-Go, and Windy.
The original Six-Teams are considered among the more difficult Japanese Generation 1 pieces to find, due to their final-year release well after Transformers had faded from relevance in Japan, and thus command some hefty prices even with the molds' later re-releases.

Micromaster

[edit]
  • Atlan (Micromaster, 2003)
  • Micromaster ID number: 2
  • Accessories: Sixtrain upper legs
In 2003, the entire Sixtrain team was re-released as the fifth The Transformers: Micromaster assortment, in individual boxes with a number visible to show which mold was inside each box. For this release, each character was extensively redecoed, plus the decals from the original version were replaced with paint applications. Atlan's train mode hasn't changed a lot, lacking the headlamp deco and white striping/"TGV" paint on his back end, but gaining some extra window deco and dark-gray paint on his wheel base. His robot mode, however, has changed a fair bit, going from blue plastic to black with red wheels instead of orange.
On top of this, two out of every twelve toys in the shipping/display case were all-red-plastic, minimally-painted "Red Mode" chase figures. Even the combiner kibble was cast in red.
The normal-deco version of this toy was sold without changes in the Hasbro 2003 Universe line as Tankor.

Notes

[edit]
  • Atlan, like all of the six-team Micromasters, had no individual bio information whatsoever until his Micromaster release a decade after his original Operation Combination release.
  • Curiously, Atlan (and by extension, his original mold as Atlan and his unmodified re-release as Tankor) is the only train in the Train Team - and, actually, one of the very few trains in Transformers as a whole! - that is based on non-Japanese rolling stock.
