In many realities, Unicron uses heralds to do his bidding. In others, simple drones will do the trick. Unicron's drones are simple in design, but possess strength in numbers; Unicron is capable of unleashing seemingly endless hoardes of these buggers.

[edit]In a divergent timeline, the Decepticons succeeded at Mission City and conquered the United States. After Unicron managed to take possession of Cybertron thanks to Stockade, he began heading towards Earth in order to consume it. Both Autobots and Decepticons teamed up against Unicron in order to stop his advance. In order to defend himself against these pests upon his surface, Unicron unleashed multitudes of his drones.
