Ironhide is one of the oldest and toughest Autobots, and has been on Optimus Prime's team for a long time. "They don't make them like they used to" is an apt description of Ironhide—he's yesterday's model, but he's built to last.

Gruff and ornery, he prefers actions to words, and dislikes talk for talk's sake. (He wouldn't enjoy being paired up with Bluestreak.) But though he may be rough around the edges, he's still optimistic and upbeat. The upside to being through more than your share of trouble means trouble ain't so big a scare anymore.

Accessories: "Static Laser Gun", gun post, 3 missiles

Ironhide was part of the original assortment of Autobot cars released in 1984, transforming into a red Nissan Onebox Cherry Vanette and sharing his mold with the contemporaneously released Ratchet. Ironhide splits when he transforms, with most of the rear section of his van mode transforming into a battle platform, and the remainder becoming his rather misshapen, headless robot form. The robot can mount onto the battle platform, which is armed with a raising missile launcher and front-mounted "Static Laser Gun". Unusually for toys of this period, the Static Laser Gun can actually store when Ironhide is in vehicle mode, plugging into his undercarriage (although the missiles for his launcher and the peg required to attach the laser don't go anywhere).

Accessories: Assault rifle, minigun, knife, bullbar/crossbow, projectile

Recon Ironhide is an extensive retool, replacing his doors with military Humvee-style armoured door panels, adding a roof/truck bed-mounted lighting rig/weapons rack and replacing his Road Armor fender with a massive bullbar that can be removed and converted into a spring-loaded crossbow weapon. Ironhide's traditional arm-mounted weapons have been replaced with the aforementioned crossbow, a smaller version of his arm mounted cannon, an assault rifle, a minigun, and two combat knives. Either knife can be attached to the front of the rifle as a bayonet, and the rifle and mini gun can be clipped to the sides of his arm mounted weapons (the guns and knives can also be attached to the front of his arm cannon). The two rifles and knives can also be attached to his backpack rails in robot mode. Think he's armed enough yet? Additionally, this retool of Ironhide includes a new headsculpt featuring his battle mask.
In the Dark of the Moon trailer that was shown on Super Bowl XLV, Ironhide hits two Chevy vehicles head-on, possibly the "clones", all three flip over and transform in mid-air. The scene cut over to Bumblebee before they could fully transform and land.

Ironhide is so awesome!

Ironhide is one of the oldest and toughest Autobots, and has been on Optimus Prime's team for a long time. "They don't make them like they used to" is an apt description of Ironhide—he's yesterday's model, but he's built to last.

In the Dark of the Moon trailer that was shown on Super Bowl XLV, Ironhide hits two Chevy vehicles head-on, possibly the "clones", all three flip over and transform in mid-air. The scene cut over to Bumblebee before they could fully transform and land.
