Virtually nothing is known about Great Maximus. Evidently a revered entity (object? concept?), Autobots are known to swear by his (its?) name.

Upon discovering the Golden Lagoon, Beachcomber evoked Great Maximus's name in shock. The Golden Lagoon

Dude's name might not even be "Great Maximus"—it could just be "Maximus", and Beachcomber might just be using the "great" as an exclamation, like "Great Scott!"
