Is this by any chance inspired by that Starscream colored Reflector in an early episode of the '80s cartoon? --Khajidha (talk) 12:17, 6 June 2016 (EDT)
- Specifically, in More than Meets the Eye, Part 2 or see image file here. --Khajidha (talk) 12:30, 6 June 2016 (EDT)
- Reflector is completely gang-moulded with Skrapnel, so Spy-Eye's deco is just what you get when you do Skrapnel in Zaptrap colours and reuse Reflector's paint masks. Don't have the time to go quote-searching, but I'm pretty sure Jesse Wittenrich or Pete Sinclair mentioned on the Allspark that Spy-Eye wouldn't even exist if not for that gang-moulding. (The earlier Legends partners had fewer or no parts gang-moulded with their bulks, hence why, for instance, they could do a bunch of Waspinators for the Waruders.) - Ah. Okay. But what about Chop Shop? Did they just gate off those parts of the mold or did they discard the pieces? --Khajidha (talk) 12:56, 6 June 2016 (EDT)
- One of those two, no doubt. I figure tossing parts wouldn't be too uneconomical since all the Targetmasters other than Reflector and Groundbuster seem to share only one of their bulk's plastic colours, but equally I wouldn't put it past Takara to have added gates when they were making promo Microns out of them. - Ah. Okay. But what about Chop Shop? Did they just gate off those parts of the mold or did they discard the pieces? --Khajidha (talk) 12:56, 6 June 2016 (EDT)
(The earlier Legends partners had fewer or no parts gang-moulded with their bulks, hence why, for instance, they could do a bunch of Waspinators for the Waruders.)
