- Sky Reign is an Autobot Combiner from the Generation 1 continuity family.

There are two things you need to know about Sky Reign. The first is that he's formed around Sky Lynx, who brings his animalistic strength and outsized ego to the potluck. Both of these attributes are evident in different ways for the Combiner - at his best Sky Reign is quite the talker, gloating and prodding his opponents with the stupendous powers and abilities of his components, and even at his most inarticulate he just can't quite zip it. Catch his bad side, though, and you'll see that he's equally as capable a brutal beast and vicious fighter.
The second thing is that his components never actually asked to end up like this. Whether it's the power of a god given firsthand or stolen thrice-removed, an accidential trip to flux space or even the banality of democracy, the wishes of those he comprises aren't exactly the top of the agenda whenever Sky Reign enters the picture. Despite that, though, if the group that he consists of sticks together they're certainly more than capable of rising to the occasion.
It helps that his name is awesome.
The other four Autobots (or Decepticons) that form his limbs are never quite consistent. They have been known to include:
| Combiner Wars / Earth Wars formation | "May Mayhem" formation | IDW formation | Unite Warriors formation | |

Sky Reign was created during a disastrous Autobot raid on Galvatron's underwater base. In a display of power, Galvatron used his planet-sized Enigma of Combination to force an Autobot and Decepticon team of Sky Lynx, Sunstreaker, Thundercracker, Cosmos, and Slugslinger into combining and sicced the newly formed Sky Reign on Superion. - Sky Lynx (Voyager Class, 2016)
- Hound (Deluxe Class, 2016)
- Smokescreen (Deluxe Class, 2016)
- Protectobot Groove (Deluxe Class, 2016)
- Trailbreaker (Deluxe Class, 2016)

- Combiner Wars Sky Reign is a combiner made up of four Deluxe Class figures (Hound, Smokescreen, Trailbreaker, Wheeljack) as limbs, a Voyager Class figure (Sky Lynx) as the torso, all as part of the Combiner Wars subline. As with the other Combiners in the line, each Deluxe toy can become an arm or a leg, and comes with weapons that can become hands or feet.
- The Hasbro release of Deluxe Groove markets him as an additional limb of Sky Reign, replacing Smokescreen.
Unite Warriors
[edit]

- Lynxmaster (giftset, October 29, 2016)

- Takara's Unite Warriors iteration of Combiner Wars Sky Reign is sold in a gift set including all five Autobots (with Ratchet replacing Smokescreen). "Lynxmaster" has numerous changes in deco to better match their component's appearances in the Generation 1 cartoon.
- Lynxmaster was released as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive, with the preorders open Thursday afternoon June 9 until Thursday June 30. It shipped in late October.
Notes
[edit]- The infobox from the extended bio on the back of the comic book included with the Deluxe Class Trailbreaker figure in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia states his group affiliation as "Lynx King", presumably an early working name. By contrast, the infoboxes from the comics included with the Deluxe Smokescreen, Wheeljack, and Hound figures correctly state the affiliation as "Sky Reign".
- Early sample packaging photography for the Legends Class Wreck-Gar figure pointed him out as part of this set, but, since there's no way to actually combine him with Sky Reign, the final product does not mention this.
- When Sky Reign appeared in the IDW comics, only the torso from the actual Hasbro toy could be used: Wheeljack was on Cybertron, Hound and Smokescreen were on the Lost Light, and poor Trailbreaker was dead! Additionally, most characters in the IDW configuration don't have compatible toys. Sunstreaker is the only member of this crew with a compatible Deluxe-sized figure.
