[edit]At the age of 21, Claire dated Dashiell "Flint" Faireborn, and, shortly afterwards, was expelled from Washburn University. She moved to New Jersey to live with her sister and eventually broke up with Dashiell, not telling him that she was pregnant with his child.
Claire eventually married Howard Bishop and fell into alcoholism; as a result, her daughter Marissa—who had been brought up under the pretense that Howard was her real father—was forced to take on extra responsibility from an early age.
