In the aftermath of the Combiner Wars, Rodimus Prime went to the Primal Basilica to seek advice from the Chorus of the Primes. Believing himself no longer worthy to carry the Matrix of Leadership, he asked to return it. Though the Chorus attempted to reassure him, they eventually acquiesced and took back the Matrix, reformatting his body back into Hot Rod.
